  9. somethings gotta give though:blushing: and the more people that read about it the more of a minority percentage of those readers may take some action, people in the right places spread the word, tree huggers rule:lol:
  10. "It is intended for local authorities in particular together with other public authorities which manage publicly owned trees. It may also be used by other public bodies, including the courts, private institutions and individuals. CAVAT complements other tools of arboricultural analysis, such as single tree hazard assessment systems. So far as possible it draws upon objective evidence and published data, but it also relies on expert arboricultural knowledge and in some cases assessments that are specific to CAVAT. It can therefore only be used by arboriculturists who have received relevant training, and who have the appropriate skills and experience." sorry my mistake:blushing: should've read a bit further before posting:lol:
  11. not seen these, cheers:thumbup: could this sort of scheme/assessment be rolled out nationwide? i know each LA is different monetary/budget/ideas wise but as stated there are great number of benefits that trees bring to our society
  12. I'v just been reading about Capital asset value to amenity trees or (CAVAT) is it specifically designed for London or can it be used anywhere? Who came up with it and decided on the figures to calculate the CAVAT of a sinlge tree? What with more and more people complaining about trees as a liability rather than an asset, was wondering if this could be a UK wide model?

i use a variation of that not in the pick, but with the two legs "tied together" (like the beginning of how you would tie your shoelaces) underneath the original tie bit after the wraps works for me, never gets stuck or tight and self tends (most of the time)
  16. I found a huge piece of fallen beech (nearly a whole tree) that i found a few weeks ago in the local woodland i used to frequent as a lad, it is full of fungi already and i can't wait to go back in the autumn to find out whats growing:thumbup: i'll be making many trips back to this location over the next few years!
