  2. Urrrgh cresto! that was my first ever harness and it wasn't good! Petzl sequoia all the way, but it is worth noting that the weaver eventually moulds to your shape to make it comfy with it being leather (i think) Sent from Rob's GalaxySII

  7. Why thank you! I suppose we all have our niches and i have chosen this as mine, therefore i need to practice practice practice:biggrin: And we can all have a journey in the process:thumbup:
  8. You won't find one here!
  9. How many times have i got the old Fung wrong! We all start somewhere:biggrin:
  10. Ah, it is an American Fir, but there are planty American Fir species just as there are European Fir species:thumbup: Throw one my way then when you have a minute:biggrin:
  11. I'll have to remember that one! So how come you know it as the american fir, when its documented as Noble?
  12. Its in Owen johnsons book unser the description of Abies procera, in the other varieties bit
  13. Sorry, my bad then:001_smile: But i have never known it as the american fir Abies procera 'Glauca' has no other synonyms than the Noble fir, so i apologise for that, I'm sure you'll get your own back:001_rolleyes:
  14. Yes seems a nice mini collection there Some more photos would give a positive ID, we shall wait till tomorrow:thumbup:
  15. Its normal form is quite common in NW USA, more occasional in larger gardens here. it is an aristocratic tree:biggrin:
  16. and don't forget the Fraxinus
  17. Right Genus (and variety group) Tony, wrong species It is an Abies and it is a 'Glauca'
  18. Do you not like that lovely, rich, aromatic, lemon fresh smell:001_huh:
  19. Only to happy to oblige:biggrin:
  20. A rich lemony aroma, but the cones are 3cm, too big according to original description:sneaky2:
  21. I hated learning these conifers but i kept drilling it into myself, going over and over and over the books, I'm pretty confident of getting a correct genus when out and about now, its still pretty hard with the species most times:biggrin:
  22. It more that likely is C. lawsoniana, but you never know from pics with little info:001_rolleyes: And i never blag:lol:
  23. Not Ulmus americana And the other one, don't want to put a dampner on your guesses but your in the wrong Genus:001_smile:
  24. Going off the smell, if its a strong sourish smell (not unpleasant though) it'll be the Chamaecyparis lawsoniana, if its very sweet smell it'll be Chamaecyparis obtusa - Hinoki Cypress and possible 'Crippsii' And never rule out the old Leylandii Variety:lol:
  25. it could be 'Lane' 'Stewartii' is a bit more droopy, but could also be 'Lemon Queen' or 'Lutea'
