  1. Or 'my customers are tighter than yours'........
  2. Hi Jon, well it got down to 2C last night, snowed, turned to sleet and has been p155ing down all day. Taters too; about 5C now. Merry Xmas mate.
  3. Might get that frost round here tonight. Been around 4C all day. There's a destinct windchill too.
  4. I'm in! Crikey, another year gone, just like that.... Good luck all:thumbup1:
  5. Need to wipe your boots more often though.....
  6. I lived in St. Leonards-on-Sea at the time, I remember walking back from 'The Duke' pub thinking it was unseasonably warm. I slept through the storm:001_smile:, let the wife go out to work early the next morning..... She said she thought it a bit strange that the local petrol station roof was flapping up and down like that...... There was a picture of a little church with the steeple knocked off and sitting in the carpark, that was at the end of our road.
  7. Супер машина для резки дров? I'll get me coat....
  8. Nah, that'd only handle straight stuff. Plus it's a no rings, no watch, short-sleeves only job. Chuck it in and hope it keeps going in the right direction.
  9. It's a rule of thumb, the start-up surge on an inductive load like a saw or splitter is only momentary, so matching capacity exactly might risk damaging both bits of kit, three times would be overkill, two times sounds a reasonable compromise. Plus it gives an extra bit of oomph if the kindlet gets snagged on something tough.
  10. Small-scale for my own use, But is an open hayshed. 4'6" bed-end scaffold tower to right for scale.
  11. I always thought Cherry was susceptible to Silver Leaf disease, hence you need to cut them in the growing season. Do they coppice at all?
  12. Still got toadstools out over here.
  13. Actually, he'd have managed well enough on that stuff with an Allen Scythe.
  14. Well yes, I can see the argument that writing in to point out their mistakes is just a waste of money, but there are some out there who will take this as 'the right way to do things' because 'it's on the telly'.
  15. I'd heard of the beer cans thing, but I'm not too keen on putting the Aluminium into the environment like that. I throw my ashes onto the garden. Presumably those flue cleaning powders contain some Manganese compound?
  16. Ballyboley. Snow. Not a great amount, but first this year, be gone by morning as it's supposed to change to rain. ...I hope...
  17. Story of my life. Any further and one of us would be speaking another language....
  18. Never had a problem, but I can imagine a warm house with an upstairs window open somewhere, combined with a cold flue, could draw the first smoke down until the stove gets up to temperature. Warm air rises, cold air falls.
  19. And another sympathy but no solution here. Little Lidl saw with 14" Oregon bar, low-kickback chain. I do a lot of hedge arisings and so do the sawhorse with a ratchet strap thing too. I reckon it's to do with cutting more than one stick at a time, the way they're held allows them to pivot slightly and grab the blade. My solution (work-around) is to run the saw full throttle and cut down more slowly than I normally would.
  20. Might just be the camera angle but some of those nets look like they're touching the polythene. Bad idea if they are. Otherwise looking good, even got me looking to buy one now.
  21. I particularly like the thermometer marked in ££. Very apt.
  22. Cross-splitting axe? New Cross Bladed Axe Not For Cosplay or Larping | Hackaday
  23. I had 10m cube delivered last week. Now just got to get it under cover........by hand......1.....2......3.....4.... -couldn't see a 'just bleedin' knackered' smiley.
  24. Ah, I had wondered if it had kept alive somehow. Those in the know love it as a firewood. Trouble is, Joe public doesn't really trust it, so you may have difficulty selling it. I remember that storm, I was in St. Leonards at the time, I sent the wifey off to walk to work through it, I went back to sleep
  25. It'd certainly be interesting to hear how 28 year seasoned Leylandii is to cut and burn. Pics would be magic too.... ..think I'd have asked the question before spending two years at them..... I'm planning to burn Lawsons' Cypress as a result of the storms of 2013.
