    Why not?

Great idea YOu could power a serious chipper with the 111hp of a defender, without the bodywork you could put a fairly hefty machine on there, and the whiole thing would be registered as a special vehicle (one that can only do one task, eg cherry pickers etc) so would be tax free and run on cherry. You can tow 3.5 tonnes behind a defender too. The only downside is that you would tie a defender up as nothing but a chipper......which IMO seems a bit of a waste......you could use a 90 though, as they are a waste of time anyway IMO.
  2. They arent that hard to get apart. I take the straps off and put them in the washing machine. Gonna try Stevie's freezer tip though. BTW- excellent thread title!
  3. Thats because that's exactly what it is.
  4. Yep. It started out as a 110 hi-cap, now it is a tipper. I think the fact that it is 3050kg gross and a 1995 vehicle meant that the taxation class wasnt changed- still comes as PLG.
  5. Didnt affect mine at all.
  6. FFS mate. Sorry to hear it.
  7. I think it would drive it, but will it be any advantage over the 36 given the reduced speed of the chain? (not saying that the chain would be that much slower, but that would be my concern)
  8. Does anybody know the flow rate, pressure and volume of the hydraulic flow to the feed roller on the deutz engined vermeer 935i? I think mine is underpowered, and I am having extraordinary difficulty getting through to B-Trac service dept.
  9. I would have a woodwarm. You can see them here, but they may not be contemporary enough for you. Having had quite a few stoves, i wouldnt use any others.
  10. Local log merchant to me uses a hilux d4d thing. Seems happy enough with it- but then as he says he doesnt need to go off road. I think the choice is really totota or what you had before from what I can tell. Cant your missus drive a defender? Mine drives a 12 ton lorry and she is only about 4'10" tall!
  11. But these are free on the counter at the local garden machinery shop:confused1:
  12. They're loveley, esp the apple one!
  13. Yeah that is well nice!
  14. Thats well cool!
  15. TCD- didnt I cut 55 trees, sned and windrow the brash, each tree being 0.8 m3 per day back in the summer?
  16. Brake blocks for steam/ traction engines possibly. They use poplar but not sure which type.
  17.
  18. Jeez thats bad. There are some sick people out there. Thought are with the victim.
  19. Well I might ask him if i could take a few select ones, but I think he may well be reticent about the idea. Its a shame, as this place is truly stunning. The vision and workmanship in it are really eye opening.
  20. It would be a challenge alight...as Ironjack says, the filler doesnt really fit....I chucked that holder out lol!
  21. ONce it is down to 10-11% you could happily take it out of stick and bring it indoors, even if you dont use it right away.
  22. Stuff the entec/ TW or whatever it is and have that scabby old vermeer off him- it'll out chip and outlast that orange thing for years!
  23. Thats what its for according to all the literature i have seen on it, such as on honey brothers website, and abbey garden machinery website etc etc etc.
  24. Because it is for a staircase.
