  1. The standard paractise ISNT either, theres a right and a wrong way. Below is wrong, and above is right, for fairly obvious reasons I would have thought. Its a total no brainer hehe.... ;-)
  2. I run 285.75.16. When my speedo says 50, I am actually doing about 55mph.
  3. I can recommend Hudson too. I had one for some years, and it WAY outperformed woodmizers in EVERY aspect. They are overpriced hyped up mills IMO.
  4. what a bizarre post:confused1:
  5. The OP didnt ask about naff japanese plastic ......he asked about 2 different land rover models, both of which are in his words 'something special' not some soulless plastic fantastic. And yet again, just to set the record straight, JAPANESE MOTORS ARE JUST AS UNRELIABLE AS LANDROVERS. Oh, and he wants some refinement, not something to hack around africa in. Has arbtalk really come to this????? I stayed away for ages, now started looking again and already the threads are land rover versus toyota ffs.
  6. Found in a huge ilex in exeter (remember that one Gibbon?)
  7. Get an older cabstar then if 16k is too much!
  8. Anybody know if this rope is available in the uk yet?
  9. I run 285.75.16 bfgs on those weller steel rims......no adjustment and no rubbing anywhere:confused1: They sap the power a tiny bit but I just gave the pump half a turn......besides dragging a 935 vermeer and carrying best part of 3 cube of chip saps the power more hahaha
  10. BFG all the way. Nothing comes close for wear and grip. They are the most expensive for a reason! The last set i just changed were still legal but useless off road and were on there for nigh on five years!!
  11. The boat builders would pay handsomely for bends like that kinderscout!! as Big j said, you cant mill straight boards from curved logs.
  12. My mum lives in wadebridge, or at least 3 miles in a tiny hamlet from it........and i live in the middle of nowhere 25 miles from there. Great.
  13. Ill sign for a years supply......I LIKE petrol!!!
  14. me too!!! awesome saw, one of the best ever IMO. Mine was nicked off the side of the road adnthe 362 isnt a patch.....
  15. I have milled and sold plenty of it to people who actually know anything about wood.......everyone else is stuck in the modern day attitude of 'its crap, good for nothing' mentality. Go for it.
  16. Sounds about right for this neck of the woods....
  17. YOu still buying jap crap and suffering with it jon?
  18. Dunno mate, but if you get this heath robinson like project going I would love to come and see it!!!
  19. whoever told you the 880 was unreliable was chatting tripe. Its the only saw i would consider for large milling, bar none. Mine has been used since 1997 for tonnes of milling and heaps of tree surgery, and until last year nothing went wrong at all. Last year i had to have a carb kit and this year some new clutch springs. The 3120 is not built for it IMO.
  20. One of the most figured of oaks. Furniture makers love it if you can successfully dry it without hideous amounts of movement and cracking.......and if they have learnt their history lol. It is useless outside as it rots fast, and has no structural integrity to speak of. For many years it was known as iron oak due to its weight, or wainscote oak as it was deemed only any good for the internal oak panelling (wainscoat) of old houses. i have successfully dried, milled and sold turkey oak which was used for window boards and furniture. Alot of that 1950's dark oak veneered furniture used it too. Not the greatest firwood in the world IMO, but not the worst either.
  21. HOw well do you know/ get on with/ WANT to get on with your neighbour? If the answer to any of these is negative, then write them a letter explaining that you have a witness to their gerdener using your woodland as a dump, which is fly tipping st the very least, and that unless they clear it up within a reasonable time (that YOU think is reasonable) say a few days or so, then you will be contacting the relevant authority, be it police, environment agenct etc. if you WANT to maintain a good relationship then gpo back round and very nicely, face to face, go through the above. Dont forget, THEY may be getting told porkies by their gardener, you never know. good luck.
