  1. Yeah. thats as i understand it, but i would rather be roped into the tree 99.9% of the time.
  2. I go on arb talk to get away from this mindless brain numbing fixed socially demeaning excuse for television and it gets brought up on arbtalk. :mad1: I'm off to kill myself in the slowest most painful way imaginable.
  3. I have to say i'm inclined to agree mate. They tried to ban top handled saws and the industry stopped that. Not every job can be done from a mewp, so there will always be a place for rope and harness imo.
  4. Me too.... .....or become a habitual law breaker.
  5. Bowl i made with a sycamore burr, a stihl ms361, an orbital sander and lots of elbow grease. its abot 14" across and about half as deep!

    Which saw?

dolmar = makita (i think)=fast revvy saw. Not bad, but i think they dont last forever like the 'big2'. My mate has 25 years in tree work and his every day saws have been the smallest saws that stihl make, only designed for domestic work, now called ms181 i think. He swears by them. Spend as much as you can afford and you shouldn't go wrong. Jonesie does a ms171 with 12" bar for around the 150 mark for example.
  7. Nice. Arbtalk networking.....top stuff!
  8. You said it mate....5 hours!!!
  9. Joey deacon moment.....service tree....of course.
  10. juglans nigra, abies grandis, betula pendula 'Laciniata'? Black walnut, giant fir, swedish birch?
  11. Haha i think your right- just looked myself and its gone! Wish you all had seen it- right laff. He posted one pic of a genuine 440 from catalogue (i agree with you stig of the dump61) and then a load of pics of a saw that was totally different. Bar not written both sides, casing wrong shape, bar cover not stihl, labels in the wrong place and non genuine blah blah!! Well spotted stig!
  12. You're right mate- if thats a new ms440 for the uk market im a dutchman. I pointed it out to him and suggested he may want to remove the listing or be a bit more honest, ot i could report him to ebay!! Haha.

    Which saw?

Stihl or Husqvarna. End of story. Hunt around for a dealer and price you like, and choose whether you prefer orange and white or all orange. There really is no other choice imo. If you look around arbtalk there will be endless stihl vs husky debates. I prefer stihl, others prefer husky. Good luck. Stihl is better.Haha:sneaky2:
  14. First impressions... Pinus Radiata?
  15. I cant get over why people do this. Theres a few been done down here recently, one of which was in another post. I dont know if theres a gang going round doing it, but why?? It just looks like half a job!
  16. :scared1:Thats one hell of an admission mate!!
