  1. " Largest log pile in the world.........groundie sitting on pics tho." :001_tongue:
  2. I have had The Orb in the cd player recently.....blast from the past I'll never grow tired of. Ultraworld album.
  3. £20 talbot 104 with matt black hammerite on the outside, and whatever colour paints the guy must have had kicking around on the inside! Ran the tax out, then the mot, insurance....mmmmmm....hadnt discovered that at the time:blushing:. That car wnent on for months until the brakes failed and i scrapped it. It did have a good stereo though.:001_tongue:
  4. That wasnt down here was it mate- north cornwall...? I know a guy who has an 8"(i think) farmi- PTO vermeer- he has mounted on a trailer, but is run by a deutz twin cylinder air cooled, it may have had a merc one first:confused1:. Its a pretty amesome machine. I was thinking of going the other way if i get a mog and ripping the engine off my vermeer and running that PTO until i can afford a real chipper. May not get a mog yet though....
  5. Dean that is a totally far out car mate! And amazingly tough by the sound of it.
  6. Stay on the pile or i'll use this log on you...
  7. We've already seen squirrels bonking....and then getting eaten by a pine marten!
  8. Treated myself to a 5 disc blue ray box set called 'planet earth' today, a BBc natural history/attenborough series that has been on telly. The first disc i am checking out is the 'seasonal forests' one, with the most amazing shots of trees in the pacific northwest of america; great shots of general sherman and other monster trees....all in hi-def too. There is a short bit with a guy climbing one and hanging between the upper branches of two of those monster trees. Awesome. Worth the £25 just for that sequence i reckoned!
  9. That might yet be happening....I knew you could do that, and if i find the goggles mist up i reckon i will put a mesh visor on for tree work. Its the fine dust from milling that really gets me.
  10. Hey jon, hows tricks. I have always gone for Honda. They just keep working- water pemps, vibrating beams etc etc. It seem that no matter what abuse they are given they are totally reliable. Having said that, my mill has a B&S "commercial power" 23Hp v-twin. When i mentioned this to a local dealer he said that it was a jap/ us (i cant rightly recall) unit, and had the longevity of honda, without being so picky over clean fuel. I have to say that i am very very impressed with it- it is well gutsy. My chipper had a Kohler flat twin on it when i got it.......that was awful, although i believe the Kohler commando engines are pretty good- woodmizer fir them to alot of their machines and seem reliable, although i have no personal experience.
  11. Fantastic. Thanks for that marc, reckon i'll have a pair of them too. I am that p'ed off with sore eyes i am going to get an arsenal of eye protection.
  12. Just thought i would share this with you guys. Been re-sawing a load of very seasoned oak beams for a customer today, with the wind in my face. Yet again i have had a faceful of sawdust and my left eye is red raw. No scratching this time luckily- last time i was hospitalised with spalted beech, the nurse reckoned it looked like i had sandpapered my eyball- but eyes are sore as hell. I have tried stihl integra helmet with the built in plastic visor with fine mesh, and that wasnt up to it. I have been using my climbing helmet (vertex vent) and goggles, but that wasnt brilliant, so now i have bitten the bullet and i have ordered a Stein one with the built in goggle things. Alien sawmilling here we go!
  13. Sounds like your poor customer needs a new ins company!!!
  14. Thats him. I live across the road from the track, instead of turning right into the industrial estate where the track is, turn left up the dirt road opposite!!
