  1. I have a contact coming up where they want an in depth RA for the use of crane in Arb, does anyone have an example I can use as a template, I don't have the time to draft one up from scratch! Cheers Mark
  2. Thank you, the rubber bit on the puller has snapped! I have to admit the levels are perfect but I w pleased☺ And a bit of context. Not a big fan of 880 up a tree, I to avoid it if I can.
  3. How's this? 880 with 36 inch bar.
  4. I've thought about that and not sure it would work in the new yard, hence the pause before throwing money and time at it. The crane is body handy where it is it had to be said!
  5. A Merc 1717. I'm hoping to move the crane forward and put a tipper on it in the summer. The guy I got it from had a 7.5t with a crane and tipper, is payload was only 1.25t. It wasn't any smaller than mine (payload currently 8t).
  6. I've had my truck 1 day. Played with it on a small job where it halved the time on task then went and collected a shipping container and lifted over the wall onto the lawn next to the door ready for moving house on Friday. I also picked up 2 timber moving jobs ( just need to work out price per mile and daily rate). All in all awesome, I haven't even put a tipper on it yet or filled it with empty come bottles. However, I did get stuck and that water a lot of time, but you can't blame that on the truck!
  7. The crane is in really good nick as it the truck in general especially the engine which is sweet. Really want a tipper on it asap, but it will have to wait until I've got the mortgage sorted out. Apart from painting in company colours all it needs is a third seat in the cab. Is OK to drive and pretty good in the much being 4x4. Scott. I think I'll run a thread once I get into the conversion. How are you getting on with yours Billy?
  8. Finally picked up a lorry today. A 4x4 merc 1717. Good crane on it. After a lot of deliberation I'm going to move the crane behind the can and put a conventional tipper on it. All jobs for the summer! Going to start earning its keep tomorrow, lifting some wind damaged branches and moving a shipping container to aid our house move for Friday.
  9. After 8 months of waiting, I'll finally be collecting a lorry this morning. Annoyed at the wait, but happy with what I've now brought (long story in there). Photo to follow☺☺ A public thanks to Skyhuck for preventing me make a serious purchasing error - cheers Dave!
  10. Thanks, if that's what I'll go for I'll get the side manufactured like you say Bob, I don't fancy getting 7t of chip pouring in me!
  11. Cheers, does much of the chip run under the truck? Also does the chassis need more bracing than is required on a rear tipper? Mark
  12. Must thinking of getting a 18t lorry and putting a side tipper on it as it has rear mounted crane. Are there any issues with the extra strength required on the tipping gear? Is chip spilling under rear wheels a big drama? I'd need to re- think my tip site I think... Anyone got any good photos of side tippers in action or know ADV/disadv? Cheers Mark
  13. Nice job, how long did it take him?
  14. DJP, you're had on one celox had been applied pressure on the wound should be applied for at least 2 mins. I would also use a CAT or apply pressure to a pressure point to try and lessen the bleed.
  15. Not heard that, but quick clot used to burn tissue if not used properly. Think over spill was the problem. There are areas of the body where celox shouldn't be stuffed, like the neck or chest cavity iirc.
  16. Hi Paul, Sorry for the detail, but when's the 'Guide to the use of cranes in arboriculture' likely to be published? If its covered in the ICOP sorry I haven't read it yet. Thanks Mark
  17. There seems to be a lot of misunderstanding about CAT. Katie hit the mail on the head. If you've got an arterial bleed you need one! Don't take it off full stop. The surgeon will do that and sort out any potential secondary damage, of which there is little chance tbh. Other option is bleed out, simple as. You've have a bit more time than you think but not much. How many people know how tight the CAT needs to be to be effective? When do you stop winding it up? What effect will type C's have on it effectiveness? For those who haven't used them, keep tighten until the bleed stops. This is going to hurt a lot more than the injury - is anyone really going to do that properly in a tree? I don't believe many people have the mental strength to self apply one properly - I don't think I could! Not sure how type C's would effect a CATs effectiveness, but from what I've seen of them being applied over stuff in pockets, they'll just have to be tighter. Any thoughts Katie? I suppose what we should be taking about is crush injuries as that would appear to be the main killer \cause of injury to tree workers. I don't have much experience of treating them?
  18. First aid kit in truck or allocated and briefed place. I did think of keeping a CAT on my when climbing but can't see me applying it in the air. I get the point of its on you it quicker for the first aider to find and apply it.
  19. I don't climb with a first aid kit. I think getting on the ground ASAP is critical to give first aid. The first principle of first aid is to remove the casualty from danger... With regards to what you need on the ground, all the normal stuff in the HSE first aid kits to keep you going or use at the end of the day after you've pushed through. And a trauma kit - CAT, celox, loads of bandages (I've found that you run out of material to pack wounds before you run out of modern technical equipment, once had to use bandage wrappers as well as bandages to pack a large wound) and casualty packaging kit to prep for casevac. Oh and adequate realistic training.
  20. Hi Peter, Does your 2 way tipper have more framework \bracing than you'd expect to see on a normal far tipper? Do you think it generates more stress and twist as it tips? I can't see it making a big difference but thinking of getting a rear mounted crane rather than behind the cab, just arguing with my old man about it If you've got any photos of the underside of the chip box to hand could you put them up please. Thank you. Mark
  21. I've been using mechanix utility. I get about 5-6 weeks from a pair during the winter. Probably a bit warm for the summer.
  22. I'm with Joe Newton. Definitely get in TM and make sure they show you how to put both heads to red.
  23. Check out naac price list. You're wsy too cheap imo. I normally put half a day on a gate (both posts etc).
  24. Agreed too much, not sure on payload either.
  25. You may be correct, but on my O Licence workshop with the DVSA they said that if you're doing tree work including domestic then ag is ok! And then there was some debate between the 2 instructors😤😤. I think you need to go with what you honestly believe as I could get anything in writing from the DVSA. I'm running a lorry on o licence BTW - better safe than sorry, after all the customers cover my running costs😀
