  1. aha nah not on this job man, had to do it the hard way cheers mark, im the kind of guy who trys to make everything as easy as possible a blunt saw is to much like hard work thanks for the comment mon! cheers man, much appreciated yeah it was a really nice one to do god i was nervous though! the owner was watching, i hate that...
  2. thats awesome picture quality! that sort of thing would be ideal in our yard, as theres no power and we have had a lot of thefts... not logs but lots of scrap and a timber grab and rotator...
  3. This was one of my jobs that i did back in july before i came up north to college. Was an awesome job, was there for about 4 days, clearing a fair few decent size conifers, some had to be dismanteled others straight fell into the field. Stuff that was dismantelled was all split into firewood for the owner and the ones that went into the field were dragged out with my landy and stacked by hand (cant hooks) all along the hedge as close as possible, there were some big lumps to move! I went back with my cousins forwarder at a later date and all the bigger stuff back that hes not going to use for firewood. All brash piled up in two big fires to be burnt. Wish i had taken more pics really, only got some of the last big tree to do. Was abit dodgey this big un was just under 90ft tall, right next to that garage, leaning back ever so slightly, i climbed up knocked most of the branches off the back and put the landy winch rope up there to be on the safe side. Fell it with my sachs dolmar 166 and 25" bar, hell that thing rips! Went over a treat! Didnt even need a pull. You can watch a video of it going over here Liam Jordan's videos | Facebook
  4. maybe they are, i've never used one so i cant comment, but my cuz really liked his ran it with a patu trailer behind or 3pl patu crane and stroke processor. i do really like the look of them though
  5. why? my cousin used to have a 1200, not with a mounted crane, there downfall is pto/hyrdaulic problems though
  6. nice one stevie! looks like a real versitle bit of kit, just the job! but looking at it and never having anything to do with valmets or roofmounts does that have longer link arms compared to standard? it looks like the crane mounting sticks out a fair way out the back
  7. here we cleared up and oak tree that had been milled onsite a year or so ago, we got all the off cuts for firewood and burned all the brash/leftovers, looks abit of a mess, but there was a fair amount of sawdust that they wanted getting rid of
  8. really good thread, love having a good burn up!
  9. my best bodge is probably making a little bar for my saw, by cutting and welding one together, it snapped once, but that was from abuse, welded back together and now going awesome!
  10. nice pics huck, reminded me of this ash we did
  11. just take you time, make sure that the saw is dead level and not slightly twisted, on bigger trees always bore out the centre (well not always if its dead/rotten ect.) but if its timber quality or somthing like ash its always best to bore out, saves splitting or pulling out the centre. heres one of grandads stumps from last year, and my cousin boring out the centre
  12. nice pics brushcutter! what are you actually doing over in finland? on the forwarders or harvesters?
  13. my sachs dolmars sound incredible, 153 and 166 grandads 070 is awesome too
  14. sorry i dont, im up at college in scotland at the moment and wont be home for a while yeah just cut the hole in the top about 4inchs from the sides i think thats about the size we did, it was only guess work with the chainsaw. no we never, just sat on the ground where we filled it up
  15. you should try using the plastic container as well, we do and works alright, just cut the top out, and of holes in the sides and there ya have it, two logs stores from 1 ibc
  16. nice oneee! think thats the same winch as i put on the front of my landy a year or so ago, really pleased with it!
  17. nice one spud! on another note i havent been able to see actually see my workbench for a long while, wayyyy to much stuff on there
  18. i think the same, i have a 361 and it has done a hell of alot of work, couldnt be more pleased with it
  19. the 35p ones are the way forward, its called like energy drink energy ahah, cheap as chips
  20. cheers man its a hiab on the back of a major, just a yard tractor doesnt go into th woods, aha you gotta splash out on some shinny stuff evry now and then
  21. Thanks guys for the comments, possitive and negitive, its all good reading. Why does this make a differance man? Like im just showing pics of the way me and my family undertake jobs. Cheers mon! Glad you enjoyed them! Dont worry your not gunna see him with a new saw anytime soon, thats my like second cousin? I think, grandads newphew, hes a contractor, I work with him most of the time in the week and grandad at the weekends. But this guy is like 56, and being falling big stuff his whole life, and he says that the 044 and 660 and some of the best saws hes ever used.
  22. Well heres a load of felling pics i found, all from various jobs this year
  23. hells, dont think we've ever bought new pipe, our cranes are all abit cobbled up with old bits of pipe and fittings cheers man, yeah man happened a while ago
  24. Well we had our old timber grab and rotator stolen (http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/stolen-equipment/31601-timber-grab-rotator.html) which really sucked, it wasnt anything special but did the job. So a few weeks back we dragged an old grab out of the hedge in our yard, did a bit of bodging and got it working. No where near as handy as the old one, as this one doesnt have a hydraulic rotator (it does swivel by hand tho), but it will do for what we want it for This grab isnt actually a timber grab, it just to be a clam shell grab, but grandads brother changed that when he built a forwarding trailer with a mcconnell backhoe as the crane. Needed abit of welding done, which was cool as i havent done any on site before wasnt expecting my welder to work well from the generator, but managed to get it on there ok, not pretty by anymeans aha. One of the ports had sheared off so welded a joiner into it, plus put some weld on the pin to stop it getting pinched again! Was a fair bodge (as you can see from the plumbing) but this was done with stuff that was in grandads landy aha, theres a fair bit of tack in there. Thanks for reading
