  2. Believe it or not it's sunny and nice in fife scotland!
  3. Sounds like a plan,im really keen on getting some in the next week though but will see what happens.
  4. Think you want a pto winch for that job if your actually winching them along the ground,a hand winch isn't really made for that.We attached a rope to the steel cable from the winch that is on the top of your list for pulling trees over, you cant use the steel cable its only about 10ft long.
  5. Yeah he messaged me back and gave me a link to the website.WHat do you mean by wait?for who? and how long?
  6. Yes,for single rope access then work with the standard configuration once im in the tree.
  7. I'm currently based in Scotland but i'm available pretty much Europe wide.I will consider anything and everything, rates are negotiable job dependent.I have 10 years experience in various branches of the industry and im Safe and productive, i can go into details if there is interest. I can be contacted at the following or Pm which ever suits. [email protected] 07727232252 Thanks. Paul.
  8. I see tons up here in Scotland and saw quite a few red/black hybrid looking things in Sweden. They are pretty cool looking things.
  9. Well the one on the top ive used similar in Sweden for winching some decent size spruce over with a static line for the rope,Never had any problems, obviously lighter then a Steel Tifor winch and cant do anywhere the same sort of work but for basic stuff fine i think.
  10. The last time i spoke to one of the guys it was about 8-10pounds an hour.
  11. Yeah cheers,to be honest i cant have looked hard enough as couldnt find anything cheap enough but wont go down the ebay route, thanks for the advice guys!
  12. I don't know if that's the actual name of the rope or just an abbreviation for low stretch kermantle.I asked if it had a CE tag on it etc.. but have had no reply,Mr squirrel that site looks good i can get the smae amount for around the same price, good find!
  13. Hey im in need of some advice. I just spent some money on some gear and don't have a lot left and have found this rope on ebay. It will just be for access but still not sure about it.Could you guys have a look at the link and tell me what you think?.Ive messaged the guy but had no reply,im on a budget to so thought if it's any good will be a good deal 10.5mm LSK Climbing rope x 50 metres NEW | eBay Hope the link works. Thanks in advance Paul.
  14. Imagination is good, but it's got to be practical at the same time, which 95 percent of the people that have commented on this think its is not.Loler has nothing to do with how a system works together, its all about equipment safety and making sure each component is safe in it's own right.
  15. You just got to keep calling and emailing people etc..Im in Anstruther and find it hard to get work and i have a bit of experience behind me. There's not a lot of options, try council's as well most have their own forestry and arb crews. It;s hard but im sure something will come up.
  16. WOuld be one of my complaints to,when you are on certain angles it's hard to clip into the side d's,maybe because they sit flatter to the harness.
  17. Think your missing the main point of what people have been saying. Why change something that is tried and tested, then put together a system that is way overcomplicated and not needed, like people have said it's up to him what to climb on.That System will not be practical for climbing and will be pretty clunky/heavy to lug around a tree. And i can't see why would you encourage this?.
  18. WHo's doing the feeding? ive gone off on another tangent with my posts as usual!
  19. I have lived and worked in Scotland for 6 years and have seen numerous people climbing with two lines.Dundee didnt insist on anything,it's just what they did,and yes it did slow the work down quite a bit.The guy who was in charge was experienced in the industry aswell.Guess in the council someone came up with an idea and they all followed. If they did dismantles they would get out a steel core flipline but generally just the main line and a very longer secondary line.Ive seen it in other company's in Scotland as well. It's something i did notice when i turned up.
  20. Quite a few guys in Scotland ive seen climb with two mains, well one is a long strop but still comes off their main anchor point. When i worked for Dundee city council they all climbed this way, when i turned up with my main line a side strop they were funny about it,Made jobs a lot slower with two prussic's on the go.
  21. Probably told you that so you spend another 100quid on a harness in the shop.Never heard of this happening was it in the paper? Guys have been climbing in the sequoias for yrs,the only bad thing about it for me is if you have a lot of gear on you and a big saw it's not the best!
