  1. My old Thwaites Tusker digger dumper.
  2. They were a total nightmare to lay. I bought them of Stanley Barnets in Coggeshall when they were closing down. There must have been at least half a dozen different sizes and styles. I still have not finnished the hips, I need another 20 ridge tiles. John
  3. I built my metal shop with this load. Sorry about the poor photo I have dust in my lens.
  4. A close up of the spruce.
  5. I found these photos of a couple of years ago. A trailer load of spruce ready to be towed back to Essex and no I don't tow it all the way with the baby Zetor.
  6. So is a Valtra a forestry model and a valmet their agricultural spec? Thanks John
  7. Donald & Daisy Donald Duck and Daisy Duck were spending the night together in a hotel room and Donald wanted to have sex with Daisy. The first thing Daisy asked was, "Do you have a condom?" Donald frowned and said, "No." Daisy told Donald that if he didn't get a condom, they could not have sex. "Maybe they sell them at the front desk," she suggested. So Donald went down to the lobby and asked the hotel clerk if they had condoms. "Yes, we do," the clerk said and pulled a box out from under the counter and gave it to Donald. The clerk asked, "Would you like me to put them on your bill?" "Thit No!" Donald quacked, "I'd thuffocate!"
  8. I am about 45 minutes drive from Romford. If you get really stuck I could probable organise something. How quickly does it need to be moved. John
  9. Yes plenty of oil in tank. John
  10. I am having problems with my old Thwaites digger dumper. I love this machine and want to get it working again. I have the dumper skip and also the stand for the digger attachment. The dipper arm will not pull in to load the bucket, it has lost all power. It works ok when there is no resistance. The other rams still seem to have plenty of power. I have replaced the oil filters. I thought about switching the hydraulic pipes on the spool valve but this does not look like an easy job. Any suggestions? Thanks John
  11. New arrival last Saturday. Connie seems to have accepted Teaghan as a new member of our family.
  12. I converted this mower to make it easier to cut round corners. I have to say it was not 100% successful !!
  13. Yes we will be watching every night at 8 pm. Will record it and fast forward through the adverts. We have a couple of cycle tourists coming to camp here on tuesday evening. We signed up to the Warmshowers website which offers somewhere to stay or camp for cycle tourists. John
  14. Location ?
  15. Update on the old MTD ride on that would not turn over. Well, I took the heads of and cleaned off the carbon. A slight improvement but still no go. On removing the starter motor it was clear this was the problem. The bottom bush was gone and on taking it to bits it has 2 pairs of brushes all fairly worn but one with no wire attached. A new motor via eBay came the next day for £66. It then spun freely and soon started but a leak in the fuel pipe to the carb was evident. I replaced this with a bit of plastic pipe and cut a bit of grass. I have now ordered a piece of heat resistant pipe to replace the plastic. Thanks for your help. John
  16. In life, if something is worth doing then it is worth doing to excess.
  17. That would explain why it turns over so easily when the plugs are removed. I will do some more investigating at the weekend. Thanks John
  18. Thanks for the replies so far. Without the plugs in to engine turns over on the switch as if there is no problem. Put the plugs in an it is if the battery low. I have tried various batteries all fully charged but have the same problem. I think it is a starter motor problem. Do they have brushes? John
  19. Not on my bench but I must get down to getting this running, the grass is getting pretty long here. An old MTD ride on mower that despite having a brand new fully charged battery will not turn over. I have removed the plugs and it turns ok then. I thought it would be an earthing problem but have run a separate lead from the negative on the battery to the starter housing but no success. What should I try next? Thanks John
  20. I would not recommend it but I pull a Farma I think about 8 ton capacity with my little Ford 2120 tractor. 45 hp. I don't fill it up and put even less on if I am towing up hill but it is surprising how well it pulls. I don't venture onto public roads.
  21. It has been nearly 2 years since I made any dust with the Woodmizer. I have not been able to get to the woods much since my wife was diagnosed with the Big C. She is doing well at present. On a typical Welsh spring day, strong winds and horizontal rain, I fired the Mizer up and after cleaning the contacts to the hydraulics I was soon cutting timber. Great to be back in the woods even if the weather was foul.
  22. I went up the lane to buy 5 gallons of red diesel of my neighbour this afternoon. He had had a delivery a few days ago and then discovers the tank is empty again. So I went home and checked my heating oil tank. That was empty too. We both lost about 400 litres. They must have carried it off in 5 gallon cans as they could not have got a vehicle close. My job for tomorrow evening is to start to make a metal cage to put round the tank. John
  23. I agree that this elm is to rare to turn into picnic tables and notice boards that may only last 20 years. We haven't seen an elm down here in Essex for many years.
  24. Can anyone tell me where I could source some bits for a Kong helmet with Sordin ear protectors. I have lost part of the clip that holds the Sordins onto the helmet. Thanks John
  25. Try contacting Fuelwood. They are the agents for Lucas so should be able to put you in contact with someone with the slabber attachment.
