  1. wj green ipswich. Had it sent up to me. Think it was about £550 ish. Give them a ring. Yes, dyneema is some sort of strong fabric rope. Someone else will know more about the rope.
  2. Iv'e got one. I run it of a husky 372xp. They work best with that type of clutch setup. don't worry too much about the saw size anything between about 40 and 90cc will do. You will be quite surprised at what they will pull. I did away with the wire rope (supplied) and use dyneema rope as it dosen't kink, like wire.
  3. it's got me stumped too as I cant see anything on nthe attachments
  4. bad day saturday. Turned the chipper over while reversing. first time iv'e ever done that. One wheel went right down a great big rabbit hole that I did'nt see. Took ages to get it of hitch and pull it back upright. Anyway nothing broken but lost a bit of fuel and a hell of a lot of sweat. Then in the afternoon noticed a flat tyre. Getting a bit sick by now. anyway changed that and decided to go home. got home and the drivers side door window was stuck half way down so had to take door panel off and sort that out. boy was i ready for a pint that night
  5. Iv'e used solo for a number of years now. I found them more comfortable than cp. However, there was the odd drip hear and there. I still prefer them to cp. Never used any other makes apart from solo and cp
  6. I've also had dozens of chains snap over the years. Brashing gives them hell. But have never had a nasty incident. They certainly don't go flying too far off the bar. Probably due to chain catcher.
  7. I still use prussic and rope. no plans to change neither
  8. Have just had a look on the net and majorety of sites seem to say you need a booster every 10 years, but like I say, I'm no expert
  9. I think it lasts 10 years. But not sure. It was 11 since I last had mine and they told me I was a year out of date
  10. Just been for the jab today. was a year out of date. You have the tenanus, polio and diptheria jab all in one now. Was out cutting and chipping hawthorn and came home with loads of thorns in me, so thought it was time to go for a jab.
  11. just checked and your right. I stand to be corrected. You learn something everyday they say
  12. I thought fruit trees were exempt from TPO's and Con Areas?
  13. Burnley, heartbreak most seasons for me
  14. Just a thought, but does anyone think that when working on roads chain oil could be a potential danger for road users? I'm talking here about when working above road with saw cutting or ticking over? Is it a skid risk or am I worrying needlessly?
  15. Cheers, thats just what I was looking for.
  16. To be honest, I only need do it to continue working for the caravan club. Not really interested in becoming aa approved
  17. As a business of under 5 employees, I wonder if anyone else has experience of filling in the form. In particular the part about what my action plan is for the year (what the hell does this mean) Have to apply to keep working for a certain client
  18. They just put my PL insurance up from around £400 to £670. I rang the local office and they reduced it to £600 ish, so it's always ringing them
  19. Iv'e posted this before, but be careful with glyphosate as it can translocate to adjacent trees of the same species. It happened to me once when a few adjacent trees started to die. I'm 99% sure it was the glyphosate.
  20. I took my kids to flamingo land zoo a few years ago. Had a good day out. But I remember seeing a big male lion there looking so p.....d off. I have a diffeerent opinion of zoo's since then. I don't think I'll ever see one, but I'd rather see a lion in the wild than behind bars.
  21. I agree. I know we are slightly of topic here, but a lifetime ban for all drink drivers would be fine with me. I never even have a shandy when out. For me, it's not the fact that you may be over the limit, but the fact that you might injure or kill someone; and thats somethink I could never live with.
  22. What if they were a drink driver and had crashed and not hurt anyone. Would you still want them hanged?
  23. Lots of people don't fit into a 'normal society'. If you want to live in a safe, secure and civilized society then you would need the 'removal' of murderers, burglers, drug dealers, fraudsters, drink drivers and numerous other people. Do you propose to hang em all? I don't agree with the death penalty as there will always be doubt in certain cases as to wether a person is guilty. If new evidence came to light a few years later then it would be too late for them. However, I do agree in severe punishment for criminals. Life should mean life. Burglars and other petty criminals should be made to clean all the rubbish off our streets and roads. If they refuse to do it, then throw them in a cell with just a bed and a toilet. This is just my opinion. Changing the subject, I do agree with skyhucks opinions about NPTC tickets and refreasher training
  24. The scientfic world could not function without a universal language, wether it be for fungi, bacteria, trees or animals. Everyone knows some botanical names for instance Rhododendron and Magnolia. We were told at college that they were botanical names not latin as a number of trees have part non-latin names eg Malus 'Golden hornet'. Although, I dont use them day to day, they still have their place
  25. 2.5 ha is a lot to spray with a knapsack if the bracken is 5 or 6 ft high. If it's small thin stuff then you should be ok. What about a tractor mounted sprayer? is it accessable? don't forget that you won't see the results till next year. I spray bracken for about 5 weeks every year, and have done for the last 12 years. most of it is on moorland estates and we do follow-up spraying after the helicopter. I use knapsack with added dye so you dont go round in circles. We also use a wetter for a better kill. Which ever way you do it you will need to spray again in the following years to eventually kill it off. Otherwise you will be back to square one in a few years. I can't overestimate this enough. You may think you will kill off the lot in the first year. But little bits will survive and continue to multiply in the following years. The kill is best in really thick bracken. In thin stuff the kill can be hit and miss.
