  1. sometimes using one with one hand is the easiest and safest thing to do. I have no problem using one occasionally with my left hand. I also use mine on the ground quite a bit. A lot of it boils down to experience and common sense, im not promoting its use one handed, but for me, im ok with it.
  2. the one where you can measure 100mm into a seperate area at the top of the bottle. Plastic bottle. Have used them many times before. used to be about a fiver, then seven quid, now, just over a tenner
  3. had to pay just over £10 for 1L of 2 stroke oil. From local husky dealer Price has gone up like a rocket recently. Is anyone else paying this price.
  4. only about 3.6, centered just west of Ripon.
  5. just felt my first earthquake about 10 minutes ago in North yorks. House shook slightly for 2 or 3 seconds
  6. Hope it gets a lot of hits on youtube. Might put a few people off diy tree surgery and save anymore needless injuries. still making me cringe everytime I watch it. hope he's on the mend
  7. will get it booked in for bearing change
  8. no theres no vibration, and the alloy fins are all intact. But the bearing has been on at least 5 years
  9. Try looking up LEWIS WINCH on the internet. Sounds like it would be ideal for what you want. I run mine off a 372xp. costly, but quite useful
  10. Whats usually the first sign of a flywheel bearing that is past it's best. My entec has a slight whine when it first starts up. This seems to disappear after machine is warmed up. Could it be the bearing? entec ch25ph, same bearing as 30dh, I think. Still chips ok.
  11. Not sure about competition climbing, but for everyday work I find a small extendable pole makes getting aroujnd the tree a hell of a lot easier. I've been using one for years. I't just attaches to my harness and stays there all day. Sometimes it can catch on branches, but I find there are more advantages than disadvantages
  12. in the early 1990's I did NC arb at Myerscough. The course and college were excellent and modern. The only drawback I found was their climbing technique (strop on, strop off) was out of date even in the early 1990's. Then did HND arb at houghall. College was 1950's style. outdated, and the food was rubbish. But the course was ok, some parts of it were excellent, others adaquate. I guess you get that with most courses.
  13. Nissan np300 4x4 pickup was or still is available from new with tipper
  14. thats how i was going to do it kev. I spoke with graham a while age and he mentioned the problems occurred with sharpening the blades (chipping small brash) does everyone agree that sharp roller blades make much differance? it's just that as I said before the blades are blunt, but the chipper still chips ok. with all the snow up here i thought i'd spend a day or two on maintancep plus its near my year end and i'd rather spend it on the chipper than pay a bit more tax.
  15. I have the ch25ph entec. I think the rollers are the same as the 30dh and the tw 150. I need to change the roller blades as they are chipper and really blunt. is it just a case of removing the funnel and electrics to get to the rollers? do the bolts usually come out easy.? any help appreciated
  16. I'd go for the 364. I use one with a 15" bar and it's perfect for general use. The little bit of diffenance in weight between the 346 and the 357 adds up during the day. For example, if you do a lot of brashing. When you've saved up a bit then you could get a 372. That way you'd handle any thing from 13" to 24"
  17. Do loads of bracken spraying in summer. I always used a blue dye. Try greentech. Just mix a bit in the water, works great. Is also good, as you know if you have a leak or spillage, as you can see the stain. Tried food colouring years age (rubbish)
  18. I have a good working relationship with my LPA. However, can the LPA demand that you fill in one of their application forms. In a neighbouring LPA these forms are quite time consuming and require photo's and lots of info. Or can you just write them a dated letter explaining what you intend to do? Bearing in mind I'm talking about Con Areas, not TPO's. As far as I knew all you had to do was inform the LPA of the work you intend to do and it's up to them from there on in wether they allow the work to go ahead or TPO the tree.
  19. Was cutting back a leylandii hedge today. Phone line was in way but I was'nt too bothered about it. small branch went on to it, and I pulled it off. This is something I do time and time again. After that I noticed it was not a phone line but a thin electric line. I think I was very lucky. Now Iv'e been doing this for 15 years now and know exactly how to tell the differance between phone and electric lines, but was caught out for the very first time today. The sun was in my eyes (unusual for Yorkshire) and I just thought it was a telephone line. Iv'e learned a lesson today. Be careful out there and don't get your wires mixed up.
  20. Have rang them. Might take a look through next week. Cheers
  21. will check on size, but I know the one from engine drive shaft (prob about 1") is larger than one which attaches to pump( (prob about 0.5". To be honest I only need the smaller half (obne to pump) and the rubber middle bit
  22. does anyone know where I can get one of these half couplings for my log splitter. Only place which I can find is Northern Tool USA. It's only a cheap part but can't find exactly same in UK. Any help please
  23. Can anyone recommend anybody who makes tipper bodies for pickup's. Has to be in North of England. Have searched web and found a few , but would like a recommendation
