  1. I've had a couple of pairs of composite capped shoes from here and loved them; logsplitting, hedgecutting, basic saw use in my own garden - everything in fact except most chainsaw use. But the full range looks like it should contain something I'd be willing to use for that too Shop All WWW.AMBLERSSAFETY.COM Safety boots for all industries, make sure you have The Right Boot For The Right Job. Tough Working Comfort. Ironically it was only lunchtime today I was bemoaning the ridiculous size and weight of chainsaw boots to an ex Jonesie employee who has also had his own similar business: 'I know' he said - 'they're all shit'! He was particularly scathing about Meindls other than the Waldlaufers
  2. You need to up your game and get the next branch tip in before anything can fly out! Personally I'm not bothered by the odd bit flying out; the machine can have a second go at it Two of the five rubber flaps have broken off my machine so I've got a bit anal about keeping my visor down all the time, something I must admit I don't always do as my best ear defenders are on a headband I was disappointed at how poorly one of the rubber flaps chipped! No feed roller on the JB
  3. I've found with my Jo Beau that you get better mincing of the greenery and less blockage from it if you post narrow brush like that into the machine the wrong way round. You get a better mix of green and brown material being chipped together: with the branch the 'right' way round you chip all the brown, then all the green
  4. They're sitting on nests
  5. A couple of recent shots taken by Her Maj literally from the comfort of her armchair
  6. Oh dear 🤭
  7. Plucked from the ether! Good one. A 6 for me today thanks to what some call a letter chase
  8. Heck yeah. NME, Melody Maker listing bands' tours always had 'Leicester de Montfort Hall' on the itinerary; as fixed a part of a tour as the Hammy Odeon
  9. Yes and putting tax on fuel is like pay per mile! More miles = more fuel used = more tax paid!

    Jokes???

Also Les Dawson... I wouldn't say the mother-in-law was ugly but if Moses had seen her there would have been eleven commandments
  11. Is this thinking too simplistic? Scrap all road tax except for ev's (which can be taxed low) and put a penny more tax on fuel. The more you use the roads the more you pay towards their so called upkeep. Won't happen as road tax has become a mini industry employing God knows how many. I must be missing something!

    Whinjuries

Spent many hours as a four or five year old seeing how many stairs I could jump from and land on the Victorian tiled hall floor at the bottom. I could do seven - just - but never eight. I must have worn a patch in the carpet on that eighth stair trying but the smashed face, knees, legs, elbows never told me 'you can't do eight'. Stupid? I'm told it can't be fixed
  14. I'd do exactly what Dan suggests. The fact that the hedge is atop a bank like it is suggests an old hedgerow which makes it well worthwhile maintaining/rejuvenating for Nature's sake. What's in your pic will be teeming with mini beasts and for the full 100m. Try not to damage the bank and its covering too much and Nature will repay

  17. An average 4 for me. The Yanks (remember it's a US app) use some odd words; pinto, intro, leary have all come up more than once in this group of games. Have you tried Quordle or Octordle?
  18. Lol. Oh yeah!

    Resting Cat!

    How's yours Pete?
  20. Glad you're happier. I'm good; very little tree work nowadays, some firewood selling. Otherwise enjoying an acre and a half of garden and woodland in deepest East Sussex
  21. Nice Mike. Hope they do well for you. How are you keeping? Jon
  22. Mick, my take on the game is that a 4 is a perfectly acceptable average. That was my score today. Father-in-law in 3, bro-in-law in 2 with just one green letter in his first go!
  23. One of our two mogs is a mole catcher; she had three last year, all from the garden. Bless her but I wish she'd leave the blue tits and wrens alone; she's even had a couple of goldcrest in her time 😡 Thankfully she's calmed down with age so we're actually nowadays talking about half a dozen birds a year but nesting season is upon us with fledglings to follow... She actually had one yesterday but was soft mouthed enough to release it unharmed when shouted at; did the same once with a fledgling nuthatch
  24. A comment re Protos helmets: the earmuffs are crap. A few minutes chipping and your ears will ring. As recently discussed on here they can be replaced with SNR32 Peltor 4A muffs but you'll need the wishbones too as a separate fitting for them to attach to the helmet
  25. Don't know whether you're speaking generally or were prompted by my unfocussed shot; it's a Magnolia!!!
