  1. Could I get Fridays off?
  2. Totally. 'It's only 10ft tall' - Yes, but once I'm up there I have to reach 8ft across it! Height - not usually a problem; width - not usually a problem; but the two together... with access from one side only...! It's not just the shoulders etc that suffer; they impact on the back which impacts on the hips. And you're often locking knees out to maintain position on the ladder. Defo worse on the joints than well executed climbing (not that I know much about that but I get the theory 😊)

  4. They saw us off twice a long time ago too remember. No-one's ever truly taken the country
  5. That beak is gruesome!

  7. ...problem being that nutters like that don't go round with Post-Its on their foreheads reading 'I'm a nutter like that' 😊
  8. I think you're reading too much into the legislation there tbh. I was thinking along the lines HMRC rules whereby both money and money's worth are theoretically taxable (for Income Tax purposes anyway). In your example the arb's saving in disposal fees would not be seen as a financial gain
  9. 'by way of sale' I wouldn't see as ambiguous; it surely has to mean in exchange for money or money's worth
  10. Well you wouldn't expect a successfully lobbied government to actually target the right people would you? They wouldn't vote the right way again if the government did!

    Jokes???

  13. Spot on on every point. The wood was good, it is good and it will continue to be good; paying a quango a ludicrous amount to do the same as ever is pointless and ain't happening here. As clear as the nose on one's face it's a money-making exercise and no more
  14. The exact words of a guy near me doing between 200 and 300 tons a year - **** 'em!
  15. Intermittent... lucky you! It's persisting down persistently here in East Hoathly 😊
  16. It's not a Larch sawfly I don't reckon; Google says that's different https://images.app.goo.gl/y4cFuzx2uqvDaPg19
  17. A couple from the garden a few days back; Painted Lady and (I think) Silver Washed Fritillary. I really need to get one of those zoom lenses for phones! And for any plant buffs the Buddleia's Black Knight!
  18. A striking wee beasty. The Rosy Footman apparently
  19. @Stubby - that's what you get for being obtuse. Stop it or it's the naughty corner for you my boy 😄
  20. Someone with better knowledge tell me I'm barking up the wrong tree with a suggestion of Kretzschmaria with HF as a likely secondary infection...
  21. @Anno Thanks very much; I'll certainly keep that gov.uk one in mind. At this stage I think I need to be careful to distinguish between 'developer', which I'm not, andn 'house owner', which I am; I did see also somewhere in the BCT website a big distinction between 'dwelling' and 'other buildings' but offhand I can't remember what that distinction is. I'm going to spend lots of money on an 0345 helpline later today and reveal minimal personal details! I shall keep you informed 😊
  22. Anyway... no takers?
  23. Well that would be nice; I could write the report and have the surveyor simply put his name to it for £X! I don't think a bat survey would be so woolly though; the report presumably would say either 'I did find evidence of bats present' or 'I didn't find evidence...'
  24. Thanks Khriss; I'm aware of the potential world of bother if you play by the rules. I'm slightly encouraged by the claim in the National Bat Helpline website that most roosts are for summer use and that the bats relocate to hibernate. I still need someone to do the survey though; I though loads of tree guys had such a ticket! Perhaps not...
  25. The housing market has always been a boom-bust one and I don't expect that to change. I'm not knowledgeable enough to understand all the economics but yes, the market will dip in line with history but I just don't know when or exactly why!
