  1. tried this 3 years ago.. had a old wood burner conected to a large metal shed. the heat went into the metal shed part dried the logs and exited through a flue in the roof... was a good seller but (very time consuming)
  2. just thought id point out a little safety, the gloves are a pest i must admit.. i always were at least1... if and when a chain snaps...ooouuuch:scared1:
  3. advisable just to change the tank....better than going up in flames dont know how hard it is to change though.. fuel magnetos and exhuasts dont mix................................
  4. nice pictures.. wheres your glove(s)? i no the gloves can be slippery and hard to feel the throttle better to be safe than sorry
  5. no stoves for me, i like the original open fires, smells/shadows/hiss/crackles.. i would use less wood with a stove.. open fire heats water and radiators, never cost me a penny last 5 years...
  6. open the door alittle but wait till the smoke dies away... smells nice....
  7. been asked to do a few cherrys, after some1s hacked away at them... wouldnt touch them as there was nothing left to cut... also the embarrasment of other people thinking i started the cutting in the first place... not for me.................
  8. best to prune in the winter though... give them a good cutting back and there will be plenty of big fruit...
  9. i find pear wood is the sweetest smelling... burns very hot and lasts ages
  10. theres 2 seasons for pruning fruit trees ...........summer and winter
  11. mines an open fire, have it blazing all through the winter... theres 1 wood i do keep away from and thats willow.. as it tends to leave a ash that looks like fiber glass... millions of little strands... i do burn fresh fruit woods,as the aroma is very nice
  12. but what had he burnt before using the ash???? wet birch-wet pine-wet conifer? doubt it was the 2 loads of fresh ash that caused the chimney fire
  13. i burn green ash and mine burns a treat (doubt theres any difference between my ash and yours?) plus my flues ok
  14. because ash has the lowest water content of wood 39 percent green/18percent brown
  15. non now not all pikeys are bad... i know some excellent tree surgeons, who live on a caravan site..there canny lads....
  16. thanks for the double reply
  17. i cut and split mine 3 months ago... kept it under cover, and is dry now..burns well too.. as for moisture meters.. i dont bother with them. (for me) if the wood feels right then its tme for the fire.. but i always think if its too dry it will burn like cardboard..and if too wet it will boil and bake instead of burning..
  18. gis a shout if you need a hand:001_smile:
  19. the oppisite happened to me.. had a 95 quid grinder just over a year and it went bang... went and bought a cheap champion one .from argos and its mint.. been left out in the rain, had tea spilt on it . chucked in the tool shed. works every time.. prob just lucky????
  20. thats better for you.. as the other fella was a right ar--... my lucks with you mate
  21. now now lads.. i know people like huskys and stihls. but this saw might just have a manufactor prob? bit of rubbish left in the carb when it was made? weve all bought something which is not highly rated... best try out the saw after its been tinkered with and see what its like... (check the fuel pickup pipe) its not what youve got, its how you keep and use it...
  22. danny go for a 15 percent reduction... no more... as that council will be funny if asked for more
  23. danny as tom said...horse chestnuts/ sycamore.. i didnt put that gash in the trunk......last cowboys or council did it mate... any joy on it?
  24. why do planning officers or council bodys, use big dirty nails to hold little notices to healthy trees???? what happened to the heavy duty staple gun..... anyone else noticed this????
  25. how many cups of tea or coffee do you and your lads drink when at work, not to mention ciggys being smoked!!!!!!!!!!!! its just that one of the lads that help me must have a ciggy supper glued to his lips all day...and is always drinking tea........ must cut the plug off the kettle...........
