  1. all you can do is ask. good tip mate.
  2. 3 times, you are a patient man. i used to get in a fankle with all the twigs under my feet. the worst i found would be on big mature syamores with the huge bits of bark, the line would get caught underneath and drive me mad.
  3. Hi me again. dont know how to leave the message on my board. so i phoned willy asking if i could give you guys the number. He is happy for that. surprise surprise. 01563 524013. He knows me as stephen blair not swb.
  4. Hi guys, thought that would grab your attention. i dont know if you are aloud to put name and number on thread, so i will put it on my message thingy. even better. my mate who gave me this number. got a call from the nfu just after he signed up to say there was a tree down on a farm local to him, so he got the job of tidying it up and that covered his years costs with them. how descent was that. but i cant guarantee it will happen for us.
  5. I have just had a call from the nfu, they will give me public 2.5million,employers for one man, insure 4k of small tools and 2 088 at 1200 each all for 583 pounds. i am delighted. i was paying 800 which is cheap but didnt cover tools. they also covered the mog, chipper, valmet roofmount and trailer for 1200 pounds. they have saved me over 1700 pounds since friday for next year. hope this info can help others. so 3 cheers for willy at the nfu.
  6. all that sawdust down the crotch. nasty nasty! i know guys with more kit than honey brothers that couldnt pull that off. but liked the video.u tube rules
  7. uesd to all the time, mainly for practise when i was getting started. but as work got busier, free time got less, but i think i am going to make a point of it. saying that i have a big scots pine to deadwood, there is a mornings work with a silky and a view to die for so that will be good once my back gets better. but you go for it mate.
  8. hey skyhuck,so you are the gent with the four wheel steer mog. I remember how excited alex was when he told me about your mog. i bought my 2150 from Barrow on Furness about the same time. i ran my first u1200 dry after owning it for 2 weeks, i didnt stop till i couldnt see from the steam. then just kept going a little further. ignorance is bliss. luckily it was just a couple of packages from mr price plus a big mechanic putting it all back together. it was off the road for about 2 weeks. then it was as good as new. every time the tonkas break down you wonder why why why. then you get it back and the affair is back on.good luck
  9. not sure what his name was but he owned a t190. He gave me a funny look when i suggested it. helpfull guy though. As was everyonebecause it was about 25 degrees. Sent you another pm about woodfuel mate.
  10. Get your spikes ready to go and retrieve it once you get it stuck. Then once you have it back put the throw bag on your climbing line and put the string in a box. Oh and if you have an astra van put the boot down because my mate smashed his back window in.
  11. Spent 18hours a day in the holds of coal tankers. 100ft straight ladders, no harness, just kicking and shoveling coal in the dark. Third world labourer. But when you are in a rut you are in a rut. Took me 2years to save up for harness and spikes, then i lied to a company in glasgow and said i could do it, they gave me a chance. Never been so scared in my life. BullXXXt baffles brains every day. stuck it for 6 months working every hour i could working with boys that would steal the sugar out your tea. Then along came the 1999boxing day storm. The rest is history. 10 year anniversery coming up in 2 weeks.
  12. I'l stick to my tartan skirt mate. Good to see there is a sense of humour here.
  13. Mr saw pod i congratulate you. no more fishing about trying to get saw in sleeve. no more saw coming off cathch and landing on ground. no more tree tie contraptions digging into leg. best 20quid i have spent in ages. I still just stick saw down the side of the spike straps when not pruning though.
  14. Got camera, got tree, got laptop, even got 3 year old to pick tree but dont have brain power to put picture on computer. Can any of you help?
  15. Hi buzz, i think i could use the naarva for pretty much everything. I am trying to do all my work with roofmount now after working with mog and boys for years. I do mostly domestic work in sleepy wee roads and streets, the roofmount is 8m so i can stretch into most folks gardens so if i could do a bit of snipping at the same time that would be cool. I am trying to do away with as much back ache as possible. if one job could pay for it then anything else it could do would be a bonus. And to be honest i want one.

  16. Oh yes, the turbo bonfire. Does anyone else pretend to be bill murray from ghostbusters.
  17. I bet he was ill after that, he should try that with the new big stihl, the place where i buy my kit let you try it out with a swivel chair in casters in the yard. you cant order one quick enough. Awesome for cleaning out the mog, but dont do what i did and burn 2 holes in the roof with the exhaust. And you then have to look round the yard for the tax disc.
  18. Definately, that would be the tool for the job. All advice taken. I just love playing in the tractor.
  19. I was at the Dymax stand at the apf, i wreckon a 16inch shear adapted for the valmet would be good, Just stick a hydraulic top link on and off you go, especially with the roofmount. Mine is the 8950, so there is plenty of weight there. It was just under 10k so i would need the perfect job to pay for it. what are your thoughts?
  20. Hi Buzz, shreks wee brother here(stevie)Mr Ed says you have a Naarva grip on forwarder. I would like one on the roofmount. How do you think it will do?

  21. I say to make money, you should either be a one man band with loads of toys. Or have 30 staff crap kit and work them with a whip and treat them like dirt and chase utility work. The latter is not my style. And i have been using this forum for 2 days and it certainly sounds like its not anyone elses. A breath of fresh air .
  22. The same way you get them over your dresses.
  23. Thanks for that, will do. I would love a big one on a skid steer, but no chance of that. Maybe one day.
