  1. i think it all depends on where its growing, i thought most hardwoods gow about 1-2 feet a year. but selfseeded in a mismanaged woodland fighting for light, i bet some will grow 3-4 maybe more.
  2. i dont! lol. but storms i find dont make you much money, if folk arent insured. they are usually skint this time of year and anyone with a saw comes out the woodworm, or you are owed a lot of money from insurance companies for months. if i turn up and there is damage to property or vehicles, if the folk are needy then i help them out. even if it isnt the whole tidy then at least make it safe. i have a conscience. and if you work in small towns then your reputation is vital(not implying this doesnt count if you are a city dweller). a few broken branches here or there is fine, but power cuts and transport disruptions costs lifes and folks livelyhoods. i used to get really excited with storms, but after having a power cut for 3 days with a baby and no heat in the house in winter wasnt nice. not trying to put a dampner on things. But if you guys to get a call out, dont get too excited and get stuck in to big windblows and forget all you have been taught. be carefull and stay safe.
  3. you better get yourself a good spade Andy, anything russel loves the rabbit holes.

    Tips

50 quid is the best cash tip, but i was given a stihl 026 once, 1 year old never used.
  6. all the best mate, but things usually happen for a reason. best of luck and i am sure you will keep us posted on your future adventures and success.
  7. I was too quick to reveal my true identity, but hell its a weight off my big green shoulders. I have a privette hedge full of rot iron and tv cables to remove by hand on monday if you want, there is a 460quid in it if you fancy swinging a pick mate. after that its coffee and cake . so i will see you tuesday mate, lol
  8. routenburn golf course, bath st. you are loving these little clues. i think the link is cheap drink mate. what about the 'clachan' bar? as for the lady in question, what my old aunty flo does in her spare time is her business:001_smile:
  9. i usually leave it to last, i dont like the way a stem moves once the top is out it, it doesnt have a nice sway in it. and i have been caught out before. not leaving enough and if i have to go well out on a lower limb and my rope starts to move up it can be quite un nerving. and usually you go back up to disc down anyway, plus i get a good feeling once i have knocked the head out and you turn off the saw and enjoy the view. very satisfying:001_smile:
  10. big job mate, looks like a job for buzz.
  11. it would do more for your company pr than it would for your pocket. these folk will tell all their friends how lovely the tree guys were. some jobs you cant put a price on. or some would kick the arse out of because some one is heartbroken over their kitty and would pay anything. but the first option is the best. imho
  12. thats the very chap, his stuff is excellent:001_smile: and he is probably closer.
  13. the guy over in dunoon is really good, but i dont know his name. maybe someone here does, he goes to the carving competitions
  14. i havent raised my weapon in quite sometime. and before i am aloud to mrs shrek says i have to get it decomissioned:sad:
  15. there was no hidden meaning in what i said, he is over a 100feet up that monster tree with a big hanging limb beside him. i just presumed he is human and may of been worried. my experience of climbing big pines(none of this size)usually ends up with not much skin on my knuckles after climbing with that rough bark and the odd slip on the spikes. the pollard comment was meaning he looks like the kind of guy who enjoys dismantling but that is just my assumption. i meant no disrespect, i already said i was really impressed with his work.
  16. actually since my cover is blown, i may as well come clean. my name is fiona. my dad is a frog. and you dont want to see me after dark.
  17. you can either be mimi-me or number 2:001_smile:
  18. were you up here at the routenburn sex change clinic that looks over the golf course?franchesca:001_tongue:
  19. i didnt tell you i also broke the high sides on the big trailer today, and cant use it till tomorrow when my mate comes up with welder. But i did manage to get a home for my wood in the yard that i had been playing about with with my splitta.40quid a ton.it is only 10 miles away.so i am delivering it tomorrow. it is probably worth more because it is broken down, but ha ho its local and its a start with my supply woodfuel world domination plan. wohohohahaha:001_tongue:
