    i did over a 50 like that off a cliff face years ago, some would do full 360's before landing.what a buzz, just watch on big bankings, when you know its going keep on the power and keep cutting, if it pulls over with a big hinge you will feel the root plate lifting, especially if it is tight against rocks on a steep face. i had a new groundy screaming holding onto the banking, he was a little so called hard man with cut off sleeves and tattoos..you should of seen his little face. he chucked it soon after

    nice, the farmer at my yard has one on the dung scrapper, it is about 50 years old. starts first time every time. i think all the hardened crap holds it all together

    i fried a battery when jump starting a compressor off the tractor when i was 16. it was a negative earth. how was i to know?hadnt been told and the leads were the usual colours. my boss took 30 quid off me, and that was a weeks wages. i hated him from that day on, and went out my way to wind him up, i lost interest very quickly and all respect for him. i was only 16 and thought i knew best. so i had it out with him and demanded more money. guess who needed a new job the next day, but i got one. he had left me on a job with a dodgey compressor, an old tractor all by myself with no training, and a set of jump leads..

    nice job mixed, did it jump back after landing on that big limb or did it just crush it, they are worth a watching those big ins

    cut them flush and plant inbetween,conys have 3 butress roots, usually quite easy to plant inbetween depending on size, definately dont dig them out mate. you will need tons of soil to fill in the holes.

    nice one andy, when it passed the cafe i thought it was a landrover with a tractor on its back, it was all part of a vintage rally, it was the scraggiest of them all but everyone was admiring it the most, it has 3 seats in it as well. here are the others:001_cool:the last massey had 3 chairs in the transport box for the old farmers, quality.

    check out this little number, only 120 ever made back in the early eighties by a company in Lanark. trailer air brakes aswell as hydraulic. still sits at 50mph no bother. to far advanced for the set in their ways farmers at the time.behold the TRANTOR:001_cool:

    what about temper in the chain, i find if you have had a day of hell with nails and stones.and the chain has had a good roasting, it seems it wont take an edge as well

    this guy just doesnt want to pay you, simples. he is a chancer. you have already given in a bit with the replanting.. you are treating him fairly and he is being a idiot. uneven goal posts. it doesnt matter what others think and there is no point thinking what if he tells others i am dodgy or whatever it is you are worried about, you dont want this guys friends as customers. he signed the paperwork...the stump and power cables are out of your control. knock the price of the one stump off the bill and post it to him, if he lapses on payment hand it over to a lawyer. and get on with your life..the lawyer will charge you 60 quid for a letter and that gets put onto the numb nuts bill aswell. you were wise enough to get it in writing. i never years ago and am still owed money around my town. cant do anything about it. but the ones that did sign i got my money..good guys win. you have tried being reasonable, but he is just at it mate

    i think its our hang up of not wanting to seem like a door knocking cowboy, i have had customers like that rupe, they just go next door, have a quick word, offer a bit of a bargain and come back with money. it happened to me the other day. i went to go and do a 200 quid job and left with 400plus vat and a trailer load of ash. and the second customer has been a nightmare for paying in the past when dealing with me face to face, so i told the first customer that i will need paid before i leave. off she went and came back with a cheque. some folk are just good sales folk.

    if i am passing then i will charge as little as a cup ot tea or coffee if its a wee old lady, but if you have to get all the kit ready and its the only one, a 5 minute job can take up a full morning. i explain the difference of cost due to time, if they still want to spend the larger amount fine but usually they wait for the bargain

    never seen a weeping beech before, what a horrible looking set of stems and over a cemetery. nasty. nice bit of work there

    they are a nice idea for the top stuff but the lower ones are a pain, if you spend time doing one like reg would do with a pulling line and stuff then fair enough, but it was a pretty crappy crown, the leader was off centre, and it wasnt very thick up top. i passed a hc yesterday that i tottempolled last year beside a horse arena as it dropped a big limb while the arena was in use, the tree was stone dead to the eye, but it has started to grow again, i will get you some pics. maybe there is hope yet for them, a healthy pollard certainly does some trees the world of good. i have given elms a few more years with my heavy handed approach to tree work:001_smile:

    how many tonnes of chip have you made edd?where does it go after that?

    i cant sharpen with my left hand, tried loads but just cant, so i never get one side as good as the other, even if i take an extra couple of strokes off it to even it up, as i dont have the same presure on the pull cord side.
