I think it's good for newbies, you must get into a good position, get your cuts right and no 1 handing. And you really learn to hang onto a saw. I lost a 26 twice, only damaged the nose on 1, it was a poor cut and if it was on a lanyard, my hip would of been a bit sore! I don't go in for all this little cuts on a strop so it rips out either! I wouldn't let newbies use a top handle saw until they proved competent with a heavier more clumbersome saw. Stop all this zoro action!

Man up and get a Mog, your older and wiser and will know what to look for and expect.

I climbed for about 6 years with out a lanyard from when I started. I had a big clip on a bit of blue rope about 12" long that was duct taped up for smoothness and strength:laugh1: I would unclip the saw, use it and then just clip it back on. No cut n chucking 1 handed none sense and your cuts had to be right:biggrin: Then I got a top handle ad a bungee lanyard and it all went down hill:001_rolleyes:

Telly shows like Axemen and ice rd truckers spoilt by over dramatic editing and voice over people. And the use of the smallest unit of measurement to make something sound bigger! If Hugh smashes through the ice with his gazillion pound load that's 100,000 mm long, he could die in 1 second! Que the rubbish animated disaster sequence! Then Hugh, drives on the ice as usual and delivers everything, as usual with no problems!! Although we have to endure 20 close ups of Hugh's beard, his hand changing gear and some wonky camera shots with scary music!! I enjoy these program's because the scenery is great and these are tough jobs, I know how hard it is trying to manoeuvre an ifor Williams through the town sometimes! -
Paying at tolls can be a bit annoying:001_rolleyes: If it's much cheaper, go for it, if not I wouldn't bother .

If it's standing dead timber you have won a watch! The last 1 I felled was stinking around the base and oozy! It was only as rotten as the sap wood then solid . It's got milled straight away and some is a floor of an outdoor summerhouse , some is currently getting made into wardrobes and the rest is going to be a floor in a castle!

I'm lucky having a wife that knows about food and is an amazing cook:thumbup: Today my food will be, porridge, honey and banana for first breaky. Fresh coffee and scrambled egg roll for second breaky. Salad, coos coos with chicken and olives with whole meal bread and butter for during the day lunch stuff. Tonight will most likely be grilled fish with steamed fresh veg and I between I'm sure I'll have some pancakes with more honey. I won't eat any chocolate or eat crisps or the likes. But if I do fancy some, treat! I'll be having them:thumbup:

I'm not paleo mate, I yummieo!! Went back to bed, was wide awake until 6.30am, now I'm up I feel like I've been ran over:laugh1: Porridge time me thinks and a coffee! I'll have a day on the digger

Been awake now for about 30 mins. I've a large woodland job starting next week and I'm climbing and felling everyone in my head, planning logistics with machinery and generally excited about it:) Oh and the winds howling high above the house.

Hi, I upgraded both my phone and iPad and have been having problems with Wi fi. The screen would come up with upgrade my flash player Knowing flash doesn't work on these I clicked, no thanks, and it said unable to perform or something similar, so I clicked install and it said the same. If I turn Wi fi on and off, it works for about 30 mins and then stops, same with Utube BUT arbtalk always works! It's the same on my phone. Should I un install flash from my laptop, then install a new 1? Any help appreciated.

If your saw is cutting straight then having the optimum bar size is a pleasure and just cut twice the width. I run 026's with 13" bar, powerful and aggressive, 15" bar it drops my enthusiasm to use it by 80% I reckon. 046 with 25" bar, a pleasure. And I've never ventured more. Tried a 066 with a 30" bar and I was back bored and frustrated. 088 with 36" bar , very sharp a pleasure, not very sharp it like racing an old square shaped Volvo! If your just using it for firewood and a pretty easy going guy, put as big on as you want and plod on through, when your in a tree and want to thump off something big without it barbers chairing on you, keep it minimal.
