  1. I've just posted in another thread about these very two saws. I've had the 9010 and now got an Echo 8002. I would pick the 8002 because it's lighter but definately not a whole 10cc down in power terms than the 9010. Plus it's got a manual as well as auto oiler. Our 8002 is on a 28"; sounds amazing, pulls the bar well in hardwood. Both are old school, tonka tough. Very hard call despite them not being in the same cc class. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/93662-echo-machines-do-you-use-5.html I have a suspicion that the Dol 9010 goes better than the Mak 9010 - Shavey will confirm or otherwise any differences. As others have said - sprocket nosed bar is essential...
  2. Dolmar PS-9010 and Echo CS-8002 are both absolutely indestructible; probably the most over-engineered saws in production. Everything about the 8002 is magnesium and the 9010 is similar; you aren't going to break either in a hurry. I've had both and reckon they are mighty similar in power/weight terms respectively. The 8002 doesn't feel 10cc less than the 9010 but my 9010 was on a non-sprocket nosed bar The 8002 has a manual as well as automatic adjustable oiler. Felling dog on 8002 is a let down - too small and needs an outboard one - not standard.
  3. Nearest to 620sx is Dolmar PS6100 but the echo has more grunt. Both outcut a ms362. 560 the fastest cutting saw but only lasts 3 weeks Loads on here re 620 vs 560... see Geoff posts...
  4. Should have said, no it's nearer a 460 than a 660. Torquey tho.
  5. Funny you should bring this up now. We bought a new 8002 earlier this year but I only used it for the first time yesterday. MS460/461 is my benchmark but I was very impressed with the 8002, a mere 3.5cc more and on paper less powerful. Ours in on a 28" and it will be typical echo years before it runs in and develops more power but it was quite revvy and keen. Built like a battleship
  6. NZ, Vancouver are options but I want it HOT!!! I'll miss the seasons but who cares, not more than I'll miss British weather! Sorry Egg, paranoia over thanks mate thanks
  7. NSW, got family there. I feel a "hurry up and F off and leave us in peace" coming Egg?!!!
  8. Oz, harvesting eucalyptus!
  9. South West England. Plymouth / edge of dartmoor - raining; 20 miles up the road in Newton Abbot - bone dry (but not sunny). It's so bad mate.
  10. I think it was in the US that the Echo name was allocated; prior to that in Japan it was (and still is as major share of Yamabiko) Kioritzu or Kioritz for short. Neck and neck with Kawasaki for sheer 2-stroke quality Quote ECHO Incorporated was founded in Northbrook, IL, in 1972 as Kioritz Corporation of America. It was officially established under its present name in 1978. The company originally was an importer of high-performance 2-cycle engines and hand-held products manufactured by Kioritz Corporation of Japan. 19. Current machine needs open heart surgery and I'm pressed to get the job done. Can either rent it or sub you in to do it, don't care either way. Needs to be compact but productive machine, not too heavy as access tight. Quadchip fits in here. Location: Plymouth. Thanks.
  20. What brand fuel you using?...
