  1. As a newbie to this system do you think the distel or swabish would be a good next step . If so which one ?
  2. Thanks for that I see what you mean now .Prussic blakes dont need a pulley whereas VT distel rely on one . I do tend to jump the gun a bit . Ive got the cinch sorted and the rope grab .Just trying to work out what would best suit my everyday climbing . Do you think the distel is a good next step or maybe the swabish
  3. Thanks Rupe . Just thought I,d ask . Do you have any pics of the distel set up . I remember you saying that I need a different pulley . What type is that then . Was yours a good crimbo .
  4. Cheers Liam . Yeah thats the one . All this metal stuff has just got my motivation back . Good crimbo out nice off santa
  5. Does any body climb on this type of system . I ve seen it on the net seems quite useful . Its basicaly a rope grab on a single rope and your normal climbing line would go through the krab on the rope grab . As your advancing on the rope grab srt your basically taking your anchor point up with you . Hope you can visualise this . My worries would be anchor point rope grab ? also single krab on the rope grab this system seems to me to have many weak points ? Its on you tube under drt srt may be someone could blast it over . Suppose you could use it to reach your choosen anchor point .
  6. TONKA TOY . Lovely .
  7. That was brilliant just gotta start saving . I need to go to that park . Bye Bye Big Shot hello crossbow lol .
  8. Yeah same hear . I love my tree gaffs ,long uns for take downs on Oak and Ivy covered stuff . Had the problem of removing a poplar and really did struggle getting the gaffs out . I must agree 6" for a pole and defo use short gaffs . I thought it was normal for all tree surgeons / arborists to own two sets of spikes ?
  9. Woodchippers are great giant confetti machines . Chuck in ya old magazines and hey presto .
  10. I have never seen any on an Oak tree . Wonder if Monkeyd has ? .

  14. These live at my yard , well they do summertime . Last week I got some logs for a friend and uncovered this little beast . Dung beetle ? . Hes dead just like an empty shell looks cool . Misuss says not in the kitchen tho .
  15. I was contract climbing years ago for £ silly a day . Only for two guys really just climber groundie type firms . I to could not say no and hench burned myself out .The day I had my pick up sign written was my last day for any of them . I still struggle with the physical abuse on my body from the formative years of tree work . We still dont speak and this was over 15/17 years ago. I was told that I had stolen there work. When really I had been earning them both a good living ?. Going on my own has had its ups and downs . The fact you are earning the money and not lining any body elses pockets makes me smile .I do have Mistahben off here help me out from time to time . Which is good and he does lighten the load . I pay him fair and he does himself and me proud . I started with 2 weeks work on my own. Have your quality of work high and the same for customer care . Work will find you fact . Sort a budget out for advertising as its no good being a brilliant tree surgeon if know one knows about you .
  16. John that set up looks good I can see how it all works. Although I,m still just playing around with the blakes on a pulley .So to me its maybe a year off trying . I will get there though with all the helpful advice off you guys . Like Stevie says can we have some more pics of the cabin . Grizzly Adams
  17. I was reading an article before crimbo . It was saying that foxes had developed at taste for brake fluid and apparently this has happened to numerous cars . Sounds crazy think I,ll google it .
