  1. Happy Birthday to Mr Bullman and team. I am a better climber, businessman and arborist because of your site. Long live Arbtalk!
  2. I'm thinking of buying a Petzl Pantin to add to my VT set up. I'm thinking I should be able to climb arm over arm whilst pulling the slack through with the Pantin so I don't have to stop every few feet and pull it through one-handed. Also fancy it for long ascents to save on upper body work after seeing recent G. Beranek rope walker vid. Does/has anyone used this system? Any comments welcome.
  3. Conifers! We do felling mainly, but do get quite a mixed bunch of trees. The hardest part of the job round here is trying to convince people that their Birches do NOT need topping!
  4. Only blocks with conifer. Good point. Your wrist becomes the anti-stress! Go for it at that price, but demand a demo and take some brash with you if needed....
  5. Bracket central Stevie! I can just make out Bear Grylls in the background polishing his cooking pot! What were they? (Help from MonkeyD welcome)!
  6. He was MB, but I think that is a cracking advert for the PPE we all wear. To take a tumble like that and live must give you some confidence in the quality of the kit we use?
  7. As I've said on here before, 1.25T capacity. But subtract groundies, dog, saws, climbing/lowering kit etc. Not the ideal vehicle for anyone who wants to stay legal. But what is?
  8. Run a single cab. Run a double cab. Make your own mind up. Weight issue (legal) is negligible. I run a double cab.
  9. What's your most common work tree down there CTS? If I never saw a pop again it wouldn't bother me!
  10. Word up mo fo. How ya pickaniny gwan? Welcome back mate. Apparently Marky Mark was wearing Stretch Airs for the Calvin Klein ads back in the 90's, and is wholely responsible for the current spate of crotch failures...
  11. A pop shedding a big limb? Must be a first! Cracking Saturday job John.
  12. As above. Blades MUST be sharp. Cracking little machine within it's limitations.
  13. With all the recent publicity regarding this, surely Pfanner will beef up the stitching? The braces thing is just to stop the young guns wearing their keks 'Fiddy Cent' style. Which will rip the crotch out.
  14. What a refreshing change! An average bloke who just wants to learn to use a potentially lethal implement safely and effectively. Well done mate.
  15. The great man himself climbs a rain forest tree in one programme. Hope that is on your set. He is legend.
  16. Nice Oak mate. Good shot. Where?
  17. Great stuff MB. Keep 'em coming!
  18. Looks good Simon. That climber is pretty tasty as well, logging AND bagging the timber before lowering it!
  19. Love it Mozza! Back to original query, approx what size wounds would be left? Max. Always feel that this has a bearing on end result.
  20. That worked well eventually. Well done. Now - does anyone have a mobile number for Cameron Diaz or Sarah Harding?
  21. The honest answer to 'when is the best time to prune' question is - never! If it must be done (let's face it, for the benefit of the customer, not the tree), it will nearly always be species dependent.
  22. Why don't you fellas save yourselves a few quid? Employ a fat groundie.
  23. I must admit that colour is really growing on me....
  24. Sounds like a great day mate. Presumably the insurance co. will pay for the work, and therefore the MEWP, so Huck can sleep easy! We will never know now if it was climbable.... Looking forward to pics.
