  1. Thanks. Cinch is neat, but I defo rated hitch/pulley over ropegrab on my 13mm.
  2. Thanks mate, I'll catch up after I get my 10mm.
  3. The money has already been invested and recouped. Manufacturers don't invent layers of kevlar every time they trot out a new pair of strides. Stretch Airs are brilliant, but the zips are shite and have been for years. My local dry cleaner lady didn't invest millions in working it out - 1) Find decent zip 2) Sew decent zip into trousers The whole R&D tune is getting a bit repetitive.
  4. Next time you're finished up a biggish tree with a bit of time to spare, stick one hand in a pocket and descend using the other one. Harder than it sounds sometimes. No cheating. Practice with both hands now and then. Even with a top rescue climber and/or 2nd access line, getting yourself down quickly will probably save your life more often than any other method.
  5. Compression seems fine, and has bullet proof for 3 years. Apart from the ridiculous farty-sound of the 4-mix!
  6. Frank, give us a bell and I'll send Steve round to carry it out on his shoulder.
  7. Thanks Gustharts, and especially Robert, for prompt service on missing nuts, bolts and spacers on my aging HS80. Rob, thanks for explaining where the spacers go - should have figured that out 7 years ago, but I don't sharpen the shears! I owe you a few quid and a beer at the show! Ta.
  8. Tried everything and had to stop before I broke it over my knee. Justin, will run it up to you as soon as I can. So Mick can break it over his knee!
  9. Touche Frankie. I'll catch you out one day, damn you! PS Do you know where I can buy some hi-vis Calvins?
  10. Jesus! Hope the fella is ok, fractured skull and stitches are always 'life changing' a little bit. I'm guessing drugs or psychosis was involved. I'm HOPING drugs or psychosis was involved, for all our sakes.
  11. Nice day for it Jon, but I'm miles ahead of you. I could have taken off much more than that!
  12. Nice one John. I thought you'd finally lost the plot completely till I scrolled down! Good karma there Rob, pro touch holding off the conny, and cash in the bank in September.
  13. Not many lie about their size and come up with a smaller number John. I forgive you.
  14. No worries on the hypocrisy front mate, I've taken it to new heights myself! Have the ISC 2-way on my wirecore, and wouldn't swap it. It's such a tidy little unit as well, which is what I'm going for with my new setup. Fit for purpose all the way here. Concerned whether 8mm AP (here we go again) will grip ok with 10mm Beal or similar, or if I'm going to have to splash out for a Cinch (as Ross pointed out).
  15. Can I get away with 10mm and a 2-way snap without the tree climbing police busting my ass?
  16. Just tried a Moon Trad chalk bag, clipped with a small crab to the right/rear of my harness, behind the large caritool I high-clip my 200 onto. Seems to work really well, but my lanyard is a scruffy old bit of 13mm Marlow, and is pretty stiff. I'm going to replace that with something 10mm and supple, which I think will be a nice neat set-up. Any recommendations for 10mm line? John, which Beal are you on? I'll post a pic tomorrow.
  17. Cheers mate. I don't usually get up before 6 though....
  18. Spent half an hour trying to get the mix screws right, can't find the bloody handbook. Can anyone explain the procedure to reset it, H, L and Run. I don't have a tacho. Thanks.
  19. Ross do you want me to walk Mani when you have two broken ankles after pressing the 'down' button from 50ft?
  20. That's my take on it as well Lee, but I won't drop too much as it's still hard graft! Good repeat business, and, as Mick has said, if you work hard and fast, and still to a good standard, you will reap the rewards. I find hedgecutting more tiring than climbing.
  21. They will probably start tomorrow Carl. Can't drive their Bentleys after an afternoon drinking Champagne and smoking massive cigars, sat round a woodburner chucking on wads of twenties....
  22. Now we're talking Tone. Pfanner/whoever - remember that Arborwear trousers, which are tough, comfy and well designed sell for about £40, so lets not hear any BS about massive R&D costs. Get it sorted. And use the same zips that the old biddys in the dry cleaners use. They put you to shame.
  23. Les, don't feel the need to defend them. The material might be expensive, but it is NO justification to charge HUNDREDS of pounds for a pair. Blatant profiteering, pure and simple.
  24. Donnie Brasco is a pretty good film I forgot to mention, as is The Usual Suspects, but it does your head in!
