  1. Canny story that Vesp, but it’s unusual behaviour. Hope the little fella wasn’t ill.
  2. If we have evolved from monkeys, then why do monkeys still exist? I don’t Adam and Eve it.
  3. You also get to a certain age where you don’t know if you are coming or going. It can be quite embarrassing.
  4. Cheers Jimmy. That’s put me right off my ham for tea.
  5. Put 'Stumpgrinder accident' into the 'Search' facility mate, but be prepared as some of the pics are pretty disturbing. Dave Dyer is back climbing again after that, he's some man. Just shows what is achievable. Good luck with it mate. Sorry I can't offer any advice about the tickets, hope you can sort some funding.
  6. The crux here is ownership. I’ll update everyone once that is established.
  7. That’s what I used to do all the time Rich. It was much easier, admittedly.
  8. It has seemed a bit balmy when you get out of the wind recently. It’s called a false dawn....
  9. It doesn’t seem right to me, but we have cleared plenty of trees that have shat themselves and fallen out of the owners boundary. The insurer of the property that has been mullered has had to foot the bill. I think if the tree was clearly dangerous and no action had been taken said insurers may well pursue it.
  10. In a word, no. His insurance co. will only pay for stuff damaged on his property. Same for clear up.
  11. Thanks Peter, that’s exactly what he’s pursuing now. He’s a land agent as well as a farmer, so is pretty switched on to this kind of thing.
  12. I went to look at an oak this morning that Highways had flagged up as needing attention and that it was ‘probably his responsibility’. It’s big, feet from an A-road, and not in a good way. Gano brackets, inclusions, cavities and deadwood. IF he owns it, the next step will be a consultants report. It will almost certainly end up coming down, and it will be a big job. It’s about 4’ dbh and half the crown is over the road. The thing is my mate is pretty sure his land ends at the fenceline. The tree is clearly on the verge, which I thought would be Council owned. Are Highways just trying to pass the buck? It will mean a difference of several thousand pounds. The tree is in Beckley, East Sussex. If it does belong to my mate, I’d be interested in hearing from anyone who could do a report, and anyone who fancies a massive job!
  13. Aye, I had those shackles on my Butterfly and never gave them a second thought. Loctite is always a good call!
  14. Alignment is one problem, guaranteeing the shackle wouldn’t undo is another. With these sorted it could be really handy....
  15. You could Rupe, it would be a quick way of switching, but even I wouldn’t recommend it, and that’s saying something.
  16. It’s a right bastard whenever I want one of the lads to hand me one, I tell thee.
  17. ‘A digging implement with a sharp front edge and barely bevelled sides and a long handle with either a T or D-shaped top suitable for use by people of any sex, race, or religion’.
  18. Are you calling a spade a spade Gary?
  19. He seems the real deal. I’m going to look into this. I’ve just accepted ‘salt is bad’ because my Dad suffered from high blood pressure and always had to avoid it. He died from a heart attack last year. I love my salt, and have always had low blood pressure like my Mam. Ironically I’ve just started another creatine cycle!
  20. Thinking about it, it works for men as well. I went from ‘fat’ to ‘powerfully built’ in mere seconds.
  21. Rebadging works for women. Slag = ‘Experienced’ and ‘Adventurous’. I’m a big fan of rebadging.
  22. Hahahaha! I’m glad I’m not the only one who spotted that Mick! As long as the enemy remain directly in front....
  23. You can also fit a small cannon to one when you’re drunk and pretend it’s a tank.
