  1. The list is literally endless Alex. The main item is learning from someone who actually knows how to do the job properly.
  2. True, but it feels far more likely that something will go wrong if you reverse load it! You aren’t meant to be stood on the machine when either loading or unloading, forwards or backwards.
  3. Pins drop through holes in the ramp ends and through holes drilled in the bed.
  4. Good stuff Hank. Looks like the tree it was hung up in didn’t suffer too much either.
  5. I hear that reverse loading these machines is a good idea. Presumably by people who have never tried it. It feels as sketchy as hell. Much easier forward, walking up with a foot on each ramp behind the machine as doobin says.
  6. This is my set up. It’s never been a problem with the standard tyres. I’ll drill a couple more holes in the bed for the ramp pins to budge them out a bit so they’re centred on the fatter tyres.
  7. A fitting tribute I feel Sir!
  8. They’ve got 21psi in them. @william127 do you load your Giant up ramps? Any tips?
  9. Success with the Big Boy tyres yesterday. Only downsides so far are the obvious overall width increase, and it seemed more twitchy going up the ramp. That was on the plant trailer. I’m going to have to be extra careful loading up the truck ramps.

  11. DBH was on point Jesse! Amazing.
  12. New big boy tyres on the Worky Quad made for an easy day. 150m drag, 2 truck loads.
  13. Hornbeam shape will be nice in leaf Mick. And that’s all I’ve got to say about that.
  14. OK then, we’ll all stop doing it.

  16. Fair play to you Knoydart, you’ve fought your corner pretty well here. 👍
  17. The plate may well drop back in after you sever the butt. You could then flush the stump and winch it back over the top. Especially if you lay a few logs down first to keep the butt high. As per your diagram, but on the hung up side of the stump. Put them both sides for good measure!
  18. L&S Engineers have Oregon starter cord from 3mm up to 6mm. Skyland also have a pretty good range of the thinner stuff.
  19. They’re ex-demonstrators, I’ll check psi tomorrow, but yes, I’ll bet it’s pretty low.
  20. I whacked 250 in them, that’s all my gauge has got.
  21. They’ll never take me alive.
  22. There’s plenty of power to turn the wheels Mick. I’m not racing. COG is raised, but the platform is more stable. Also gain a couple of inches in lift height, which will be handy for clearing the tailgate. Pretty sure the pros will outweigh the cons. Forgot to get a picture of me in my new F1 boiler suit doing the wheel changes.
  23. I’ve always wanted 8” more girth.
  24. @doobin can probably advise. New wheels arrived today. Swapped them out and went for a spin across the very wet park. The difference is night and day. Only flattened the wet grass. Game changer! Thanks to Will at Stag Machinery for sorting them out for me.
