I did a decade with my 125, agree with everything you say. Intrigued as to why the TW230 isn’t on your list? -
I like it. For the top you could run a scaffold board (preferably planked leylandii) horizontally with vertical logs as capping. Miss every other one to create the effect that you live in a castle, or point them if you want to stop the pesky redskins getting in your garden.

I think in the domestic sector the weather plays a big part. After a nice weekend the phone usually gets busy because people have been out in their gardens and decide to have stuff done. Or after high winds when they crap themselves seeing their tree blowing about.

I’ve met Ray and he’s a really nice, unassuming bloke. I’m a Bear fan as well, I just think a lot of what he does is deliberately more scripted for media impact. Pretty sure they are both the real deal, just different styles. The closest I’ve got to wild camping is probably when I pitched up next to @eggsarascal at one of Jonesie’s shows.

Ancient 125’s had one roller. More recent models and 160’s have twin rollers.

Good call. I’ve always used the DMM ovals. -
It’s a lot safer than a finger-tight maillon for sure. Rope damage potential would be the same as a pinto with an alpine, but I don’t see the need to pull it out so quickly as to damage the rope. We had a play last week with the Quickie just choked round a limb (which is acceptable because side loading isn’t an issue) with a trailing throwline tied to the Quickie, which retrieved nicely.

Smashed hundreds of tons of conny no problem. As Matty said sharp blades are key. Don’t get me wrong, it’s no 12” Bandit, but still a very capable machine. You soon learn what needs snedding and what doesn’t. You will end up with a fair bit of cord, over 4” it’s on the stress a lot and productivity slows.

160 mate. Kept the pushability of the 125, but definitely an improved machine in several areas. My 125 did me very well though, till the nomads stole it.

Pfanners all day, Arborist or Gladiator in Type A. @Rich Rule is also 6’4” and he gets on well with the long leg versions.
