  1. There is no plans to take the rest of the tree down. Its apparenlty fine with the strap holding the two trunks together but I am not convinced.
  2. Hi, We recenly moved into a nice old house down here with a garden full of mature trees, one day I spotted one of the trees an old oak which has grown from a split base was apparently held together by one of those straps that trucks use to secure loads, its twisted knotted and looks pretty old and looks to be digging in to the tree quite a bit on one side, we had a word with the landlord who lives in france and he sent a company round to look at it they decided that the tree would need removed but when they did the job they just took about 7 meters off the crown and called it a day, includng leaving the strap in the tree that looks to be taking the weight of the trunk still. The said that the company has assured her all is ok and its safe with this strap still in the tree, but im not convinvced that the tree is safe yet they even told the postie on the morning of the work that the tree was coming down. would professionals ever leave a tree supported like that? wouldnt they at least replace the strap? Thanks
  3. mixture of oak, ash and silver birch. Some of the bigger oaks will be 100 years old most of the silver birch about 35 years old. nothing particular straight or nice. Thanks
  4. Hi all I have 7 acres of wood 90% hardwood that has been unmanaged for about the last 20 years. Im looking to start to tidy the place up now and there is alot of dead and dying wood to come out plus a general thinning is needed of some younger stuff. Access is by tractor trailer due to a stream that has to be gone through but the site is not steep and presents no real extraction problems. What would be the best way to sell the timber felled and stacked? standing? what sort of price should I be looking at roughly per ton/meter? Thanks
