  1. Hello atree, don't have to be work pics, can be arty pics, pics of tana mahuta, anything with a tree in it.
  2. Shelter belt pruning, when on long reach like this it was quite scary as it had a speaking warning for over extension, in japanese:confused1:
  3. I'll start her off with this light 5% reduction on, I think it was a willow of some sort
  4. blimey. thought it might be a bit harder than that. Right first time, I owe you a pint if we get round to it
  5. Any of you landy buffs want to have a crack at ID'ing the one in my earlier picture then:biggrin: Just for some amusement while mozzas at his BBQ

    OOOPs!

Guilty. It was abrand new saw by the way only used a few times, and it was stripped just to be cleaned of all organic matter etc to ship it back to the UK. This was a couple of years ago and it is now suitably dirty and scratched. I would post a photo but haven't got a camera at the moment. The exhaust with the muffle is apparently only on NZ and Oz models

    OOOPs!

Yip very noisy with the muffler out, just had to replace it (as it had fallen out) and couldn't get the right bolt to hold it in, so used it with a slightly too small bolt in the hole and lost it straight away. They cost about £3 so will get another one and the right sized bolt next time.
  8. company T shirt is probably the best thing, now that you mention it. I must get some done, thanks for the reminder. These sort of things add credbility, in the mysterious world of the public psyche. Also whether they like you or not, colour of truck etc. No substitute for knowing what your'e talking about though!!! and knowing what bits to convey and how to convey it , into joe public

    OOOPs!

Well spotted and the clue as to the why, or what? is in the exhaust

    OOOPs!

Can someone tell me where all these bits go please:confused1:
  11. Yup - 4runner is the UK model of the surf. They are a fantastic motor. Rumoured to have the head gasket go at some mileage, I didn't have the problem, but that and the springs, are the only things I know about. The springs do have to be done with the 25% stronger ones then they will carry a load. In NZ theres tonnes of jap import surfs, and they are quite funny to watch as they always have the nose high in the air edit: i've finally figured how to post pics, after about 2 years, so expect loads of uneccessary pic postings
  12. This is a better working jap 4x4, nissan terrano. This one in NZ, haven't seen them over here:confused1:
  13. I paid about 2k for this wee beasty at the jap car auction in Liverpool. You have to get it UK plated yourself, I have all the details for all this as well
  14. I had this one here. Main prob is that they need stronger springs on the back or they sit low/ high at front even with just granny in the back. I have the contact details of where to get them, and other parts. Otherwise a tidy motor, Nissan terrano is better though especially as a work vehicle.
  15. I agree with Dean, but I don't really care whether I am right or wrong. I still don't have a chipper so I pay to tip at a commercial site where it is mulched by huge machines and composted. In fact I always see my load mulched before my eyes. Therefore by any definition of the word it is not waste, as I pay to have it recycled. I see it as an unfair tax on my business. If I was taking real waste to landfill, I'm not sure, still an extra tax, but not my problem. Edit: Its stuff like this that is why my profit is 70% of turnover and not 20- 25 like some folk, it all adds up.
  16. Very tidy work that. Nice to see examples of people who clearly take a bit of pride in a proper job.
  17. I agree, don't need to varnish it. I wait till they are seasoned then sand em down with a grinder if I want a nice smooth look. Maybe linseed oil but need lots of applications. On Toxicity. Most paints and varnishes emit VOC's for a long time after application. Volatile Organic Compounds are I believe reckoned to be carcinogenic so they just add to the cocktail that we are exposed to. The new car smell is down to VOC's by the way. I think its a better vibe for your shrume not to make it contribute to the toxic mix in this world. edit : nice shroom by the way
  18. Well done bareroots for getting "paradigm" into one post 4 times:001_smile: Not everyone will know what one of these beasts is: Pronounced [paradime] - its an accepted way of thinking about something, so ingrained, that no alternative is considered. Like when they thought the world was flat for example. Wiki will elaborate or differ a bit but thats the gist of it, we'll have paradigms everywhere now:thumbup1:
  19. Somewhere in the early 90's
  20. You may be aware of this, but steristrips are great. You can hold together quite bad cuts with them. Not the really big ones this thread is about. Hospitals use them instead of stitches a lot of the time. You can buy them in boots. Stuck a hedgecutter in my arm not so long ago, patch up with steristrips, rollup and strong coffee for the slight shock, then back up the ladder and on with the job. Had to do it on me tod too, sorry AA Paul (H&S wise) edit: at least I've got a good first aid kit and a fire extinguisher:thumbup1:
  21. Stretch air don't get melted, burned areas from exhausts like the black material of the stihl. Hence they look smarter longer, nice to look presentable. My zip never broke like so many others but due to the side stitching, it does bulge out strangely with 'cod piece' effect, or is that just me... Stretch air seem to last ages, or am I cutting less trees these days:confused1:
  22. Glad you caught it Hama, and glad you liked it, I thought it had your name written all over it, so to speak
  23. Good website, good qualifications, good work in Nepal, good effort, Good Luck with your future business. If I get anyone asking in cheshire I'll stick it your way, I believe you do travel a fair bit in your line of work, hope you don't drive a Landy:001_smile:
  24. This is the one I mentioned to Hama but others might be interested. Tv Guide says - How James Lovelock came to see the earth as a holistic self-regulating system.
  25. Well done for reading it all thru Jamie. I've noticed that your posts are always quite considered. You seem to take in what everybodys saying, like a good listener sort of person. Your post deserves acknowledgement, and I think that your summary is quite a good one. I am not the final arbiter here and maybe Hamma isn't either. Who knows? make of it what you will I guess:thumbup1:
