  1. Thats it mate, I reckon its time to buy a new one too, not much life left in that one:biggrin:
  2. Mine would only really be turned when I sharpen by chance, I always take the bar off and clean it, so it will get turned by some average, based on likelihood of putting it back on the same way again:001_smile: If its gone slack during use, (excluding new chains for now) I would tighten it, and it wouldn't occur to me that, that could happen. What make is it ?, I saw a bar on one of them echo saws do that after just a few uses
  3. My little bit of knowledge comes mainly from stripping a landy engine, so I can picture diesel better in my head. Graham knows more than me I think Anyway the valves he refers to I think go up and down (tapits, rocker gear controlling this) all hitched up to timing belt, and allow exhaust gases out and air? in, all in sync with the exploding fuel in the combustion chamber, driving the piston down. He's looking at oil getting in - fouling the plug - no combustion - fuel blasted out of exhaust port - I think?
  4. I'm no expert but I enjoy trying to work these things out specially when its not my machine as this removes the pressure. We have unburned fuel from the combustion chamber being forced out of the exhaust port. Then thru the exhaust gasket to the outside. So possible causes: 1)Too much fuel introduced to combustion chamber. 2) incomplete combustion 3) May be more possible causes Maybe both of above, So my theory is on the fuel delivery side - carburetor I'm sure you'll get a more comprehensive answer from someone, but could be just a carb tune up and new plug (which you did already) ? Might be worth testing for a spark then checking HT leads if not already done.
  5. My interpretation of Bundles post hama is that he is saying. he likes the vid, an 'kin aye thats a lot, even if half true. He's agreeing I think in academic speak:biggrin:
  6. I noticed the solitary cone, I have the same model of cone in my traffic management department, just the one also:biggrin: I like the redirect off the branchstub, thats experience making life easier:thumbup1:
  7. Thank you for your gracious acceptance of my apology Hamma. At least you know that whoever said it has now retracted it. And as a backhanded compliment its not so bad being compared to M.d . Hilarious about hucks washing machine isn't it, daren't say anything there, my apology gland is worn out. Don't forget my offer of the DR E ingham stuff, sure you'll find it interesting
  8. Thanks andy, I know there is a wise head on those shoulders and one to be listened to and taken notice of. I am learning the choice of words thing slowly, and it is hard learning forum speak. All is now calm in this here thread. sorry to bump it again. but perhaps now it can have a calm passage to the arbtalk basement:001_smile:
  9. Hi Hama first - while I'm in apology mode, I tried to pm you ages ago but your inbox was full. I did a lengthy one but basically I apologise for the trying to be like M..d comment. It was wrong, uncalled for and b***llks and I'm sorry. That out of the way - In a previous life I was a worm farmer in australia (no s**t), this means massive compost piles, to feed massive wormbeds. The worms were farmed to be used in a grey water recycling system, which worked the same way the soil works. A world expert on composting and soil mycelium is a Dr Elaine Ingham. I have her research CD's, or lecture cd's on my lap top. You can google her, or if you like, if you can tell me how to do it I will get coppies to you by way of apology.
  10. I'd be well up for that (pint / APF), good idea. (sorry by the way for all this thread hijacking, relevant comment below---) Im 49 and starting to ache a bit, I have a fictional firm called 'Old B**tard Tree Surgery' you have to be over 40, so welcome to the fictional firm treewarior. I know Jamie from when I used to freelance, for Bored (Border) Treecare and Neil Buckland, now not with us as you will know. We'll have to sort that out, I'm away in Spain from Tuesday next week till about the 22nd, so will check arb talk and do some pm'ing:001_smile:
  11. Cheers SWB, I was also thinking of Andy's comment. That really hurt me. Made me feel like some kind of vulture. That's why I'm appologising as well, because if that was the impression given, then its not good. Sincerely again, not looking for arguments
  12. I decided to say no more as it seemed that the best thing would be to let the thread go to the arbtalk archives. However now its been bumped up I would like to say this. (preprepared in case it got bumped up) Perhaps it was wrong of me to say it looks dodgy due to miss identified chipper in my first post, and to clarify in my second that I was worried about the truthfulness of the maintenance claims due to said miss identification – I mean wrong to do so on a public forum But I drove from Cheshire to Sheffield to look at a chipper that turned out to be described wrongly, and not worth the trip. I had drawn out the cash to pay for it too. I also drove to Coventry to look at one through a dealer and the same thing happened. So for me, the information given was enough to raise alarm bells. I won’t be able to feed my family either if I have to make long trips to look at chippers which have been described wrongly. Therefore I reserve my right to make a decission based on the information given, I’ve already wasted a lot of time and money looking at chippers where the owner doesn’t know what they are selling. I’m not going to start thinking poor chap etc, Its my hard earned that has to be handed over, so I posted my thoughts thinking that ebay stuff is often commented on, on arbtalk. SWB’s post made me think that the cicumstances may be quite bad for the guy, so I agreed to decist from further comment. My last couple of posts were just between me and swb. If I was wrong to do that on arbtalk, then I appologise to the seller and any other offended parties Sincerely Paul Brash
  13. Thats how we used to pronounce it. Shouldn't the groundie know anyway either from running out of fuel noises, or just seeing you lowering it. If he's too busy feeding the chipper I just wave my arms around till he notices my saw is sitting on the deck. As for a name your'e right that its too much of a mouthfull, and that the younguns don't know 020, there is a sign for fuel up with various thumbs and fingers in a kind of teapot tipping motion. I'm also pleased that you mentioned the filler caps
  14. Did you mean me mate? I have a black petzl helmet with customised yellow stripes on top. I don't have dreads, but I have long held a theory that the best climbers do have dreads. Whoever youv'e seen with the red lid and dreads, I'd lay odds he's an ace climber:biggrin:
  15. Hello again treewarrior and APB. I was just extending a hand of friendship really. No hidden agenda, Didn't want to put KTs name just cos don't know if he minds or not. He's also a friend and I have a lot of respect for him. Quite a few tree surgeons round cheshire used to work for him. If he's knocking on a bit then I'm possitively ancient as I've got ten years on him. Not having much luck on arbtalk tonight with my wording of things, seems to work better for me when I'm further through my wine ration, so had to nip to the offy. Hopefully now that I am comfortably numb I will find a better choice of words for the forum thing:biggrin:
  16. Choice:thumbup: You and AP Bell being down middlewich and crewe way, I don't think I know you, I'm in Northwich and not a born local. Do we have K.T. in common? He trained me, won't post his name on the internet without his permission but you'll know who I mean if you know him. and do you know me?
  17. So do we agree now then mate I'm confused This form of communication can be tricky. I'm getting used to it and its easier since yesterday when I got my BB connection so don't lose my connection just when I'm about to post something.
  18. I hadn't seen it this way SWB and the very possibility that you may be right is enough for me to decist. Also you know I appreciate your normal style, but have observed that you can be a formidable foe when riled. I am going to decide on discretion over valour in this respect and retire to my bottle of carmenere:001_smile:
  19. In NZ they use arborist over tree surgeon but for some reason they frequently call you an ARBITRIST. Last time I arrived there the customs man called me an Arbitrist - which to me suggests someone who mediates in disputes - Not so far from the truth there aye
  20. Agreed, and the name and phone numbers are readable on the chipper. But what I find dodgy is that it Says TW chipper well maintained. How can it be well maintained if you don't know its not a TW. SWB - voice of reason as ever, perhaps he has a fever and is imagining that his jensen is a TW:001_smile:
  21. I just had a look and thought the same, not a TW, is it a Jensen or summat? makes it dodgy anyway
  22. Albedo

    sticks

Nice one SWB, Choicest of choice in fact. You have a talent there. I have admired your out of the box thinking in the past, and your willingness to put it out there. Its definately more weird here since I got my broadband, wonder if that's summat ta do with it. Best regards Pikey Paul
  23. Yup, undercover mate --- Wait till you see my rig Its a bit weird and scary here in the 21st century, I might have to go back:blushing:
  24. Fair enough Dean. This is one that I frequently have that sinking feeling over, after the event, in that I could be deeply in the proverbial for not haveing checked something out. In this case, if I have doubts in advance, I just walk away in order to avoid that horrible sinking feeling that you get. Am I right in thinking that there is no statute law on trees except the one about overhanging branches, and everything else is based on precedent --- Educated Arborist ?????
  25. By the way I'm all over arbtalk tonight as I finally got a broadband connection to the caravan that I live in. I can now watch the vids (dieing to see rupes takedown) and post pics etc. This may be bad news to some (sorry Hamad), but what better place to announce my entrance into the world of fast tinternet stuff than a thread that happens to have everyone's attention:biggrin: sorry Dean and everyone, trying to figure out how to post a pic of my LDV somewhere:biggrin:
