  1. I wouldn't count on that, a chainsaw will go through wire core, a little slower than it would rope, but it will go through.
  2. Just do it, fog light is part of the vehicle MOT but there is no test on the trailer (unless you have it listed on an "O" licence)
  3. What are you fitting it to and why would you have to loose the fog light?
  4. Get what you are saying, did you ever work in Germany? saw a lot of bemused looks there as well, sense of humour ectomy on a national scale.
  5. When he said "what you want to do with it" its a question to determine what endurance you need. For what you have described an electric winch will do, if you had been looking at longer and repeated pulls then mechanical (not likely with the Discovery) or hydraulic would be more appropriate. When you say "pimp up the disco" I am assuming you mean make it more useable rather than girly good looks. I got a bumper custom built to fit my 8274 to a disco1. Its a bit of a carbuncle but it does have a certain "built in right of way" factor. Get yourself the best low profile winch you can afford and find a bumper to fit
  6. Well I stand to be, or stand corrected but I thought an intergeneric hybrid would produce viable offspring and an interspecific would be sterile. Either way is a thug of a tree often used to bad ends, although it is a good money maker.
  7. The trouble with that is the precedents establishing liability under English law. If you brace it you are accepting that the tree is defective, if the bracing doesn't hold you are slam dunk liable so we don't see as much bracing in the UK as elsewhere in the world The other thing is, (as others have said) its a leylandii, a cockrochesque thug of an interspecific hybrid. They are plentiful and not regarded as a high value tree.
  8. Didn't know that, good tip:thumbup1:
  9. I agree with you but look out, you will have the "lighten up man its Christmas" police after you, they were out last night.
  10. A bit on the soft side for a cutting board, it was often used in furniture for drawer backs and the like.
  11. I am having breakfast Bring on the bacon:laugh1:
  12. What that man said, and its not even a couple of grams
  13. The angle matters, if to go too thin you loose durability, if you go too thick it needs more energy to make the cut which, at the extremes will lead to more loading on bearings which wont so anything for longevity. Bandit (I think) used to offer a diamond manual hand sharpener affair for edging blades up in situ but it did alter the edge rather than sharpening the whole blade. I have used a flap disk in an angle grinder as an emergency measure before now but there is no substitute for a "proper" grind.
  14. Not my intention, it is a bandwagon urban myth thing, I asked him why he thought that but its all gone quiet over there
  15. The thing I don't like is that he has picked up on some internet tripe and in youth and inexperience called it a summation of the police with nothing to substantiate it. Thanks to the police I recovered my stolen chipper, thanks to the police the scrotes breaking into my elderly neighbour got what was coming to them, thanks to the police. These are my real world experiences not some "Yea mate" to a bit of internet urban myth that's old as the hills, have a laugh by all means but keep it in reason. If the man has a real gripe with the police lets hear it otherwise its just hot air and tripe
  16. So have you had any direct experience with the police to foster this jaundiced attitude or are you just saying "yeah man" to some meaningless tripe you found on the internet?
  17. Like it:laugh1::laugh1:
  18. Ha ha, you read the news report and I know the man, he isn't the best shot and he is definitely NOT a man to cross.
  19. Would it speed things up though? The incident near me on Sunday has the regular police at the end of the road in double quick time but, because a firearm had been discharged (even though is was the householder) they had to hold back for quite some time until the armed response offices arrived leading to quite a delay.
  20. Is it OK to take the P1ss because its Christmas?
  21. Indeed. There are variations on the story, I don't think that one can be based on fact because its based on a lie but the variation that has the guy calling back and saying "its OK no need to rush, I just shot them" may well come to be. A neighbour of mine opened up on raiders with his shotgun on Sunday
  22. I don't think its fair to call the Police bad with some ancient old wives tale you trawled up on the internet, that story is probably older than you are.
  23. It would depend how it was constructed, if it were designed to inflict injury it could be described as a mantrap and setting mantraps is definitely illegal.
  24. Plod knows who you are when you call (caller ID) when he called back with nearly the same tale from the same address they might just put 2 and 2 together. I know someone who tried a similar trick to get plod to attend (sooner) to remove some protesters, he was amazed that they saw through it:001_rolleyes: Don't understand the firearm bit?
  25. Course because its on the internet it must be true, and the police don't have caller ID or anything like that so its not like they would know the bloke was flat out lying or anything like that. When I caught 2 fools breaking into next doors the cops were there in a flash.
