  1. Well there is no warranty and no returns so that's more than its worth considering you can get a pukka one from a dealer for not much more
  2. Cable ties, tooooo many uses to list here, deserves a thread of its own
  3. I had a big dead elm pop on me once. It was so loud for a second I thought the tree had fallen in half, nearly pooped my pants
  4. Self splitting logs, how cool is that?
  5. Areldite and a 2p coin to fix a leaking core plug
  6. Sycamore often pops and bangs as it as you cut, its just internal stresses sorting themselves out.
  7. That's not a convincing argument Time wise, I don't make a special journey for saw fuel, I pick some up when I fill my vehicle, it takes less time than waiting for a costa to brew and it adds nothing to the visit because I make the groundie fill the can while I fill the vehicle. That increases his productivity so I save money by filling at the petrol station. Even if I weren't going to fill the vehicle there are filling stations everywhere it takes no more than a couple of minutes to fill a can and that's just part of your general overheads. I fill the fuel directly into the can I dispense it from so no need for another can and even if I did need cans and funnels and suchlike they cost pennies and last a lifetime. Net is no extra time or cost. Here is some food for thought for you, If I buy Alkylate from you my nearest supplier is at least a 1 hour round trip away so to make the journey anything like economical I have to collect it in large quantities or waste half a day (minimum) waiting for the courier to bring it. Its not cheap so I have to tie up a chunk of cash to do this, on balance that looks like an expensive way to do it. Either way its an investment in time and money that makes stopping to get a gallon on the way to a job cheap as chips.
  8. Well its all a bit sketchy isn't it, the thread starts with "There appears to be", put a bid on it if you like but have a care, if you win they will expect you to pay on time.
  9. And yet he managed to (allegedly) get his hands on a dodgy card and figure out how to use it:confused1:
  10. Can I just point out that when the auction ends if you are the one with your hand in the air you are liable for the hammer price and the seller can take legal action to recover it.
  11. Put mix oil into can, add petrol at pump. Simple no mess, no fuss.
  12. Have you tried welding one? I have. Its high mag and just wants to be a silver puddle, there is a load of oil and crap in the crack where the wall has worn through, and its going to twist like a bugger when you get it warm. How much do you recon its going to cost to weld it? Even as a cash job it would be 20 or 30 quid and a new one is a tenner more. Oh and getting it hot wrecks the plastic cover
  13. I have tried fixing front handles, because I don't like to be beaten by an engineering problem or spend money. The only one I had any lasting success with was on a round section where I managed to sleeve it.
  14. Alloy is a denser medium than GRP. IF you could get it to bond you would need a big ugly dollop to achieve the same strength, and the tube is worn.....
  15. Not by your average blacksmith, the tube is worn, see the lines where the folded tube has worn through to separate both walls and a nice fracture right across it? Its a worn out part and fixing it will be less than perfect for the sane price as a new part
  16. Its alloy mate, its soft and the rivets will work loose, trust me, I have tried it
  17. Blacksmiths forge mild steel and that's a high magnesium aluminium alloy, you can weld it with TIG but its tricky and would probably cost the same as a new part
  18. Mend it with a new one
  19. I have the sirrius in 12mm and 16mm The 12 is light and easy to handle, more often than not I use it wit a Pinto Rig pulley. Makes for quick smooth work If I were you I would go with the 12mm
  20. A bit over budget but an excellent choice Sirius 12mm Bull Rope | Clark Forest : Rigging Ropes
  21. Couldn't agree more, the paperwork alone is a nightmare.
  22. No prisoners, big top out first then you can take a bit more time with the rest
  23. If I have a bit of cross cutting to do I like to listen to a bit of Rammstein on the iphone to make me forget how miserable my life is:laugh1:
  24. You are going to need a bridge to come south, we are going to chisel you off and wind you out towards Norway with some acrow props:laugh1:
  25. Yup, the more you cut off the less likely it is to go over. I wouldn't be taking any prisoners though.
