  1. I have seen piston heads broken with the metal stops! Have you got any compression? I have broken one of those dreadful plastic ones off in one of my saws. I just tipped the saw upside down and shook it until I could see the plastic in the plug hole. Then using a piece of wire to guide it out I giggled it about until it finally dropped out. Now I only ever use starter cord as a piston stop. Hope you get it sorted!
  2. Depends on where you know? Though not likely. Its located on a private estate many miles from Cambridge. Sorry to be so cryptic but it is a private estate and there are badgers present. Therefore I do not wish to give away its location on a public forum. Thanks for the interest though.
  3. Just surveying it as part of the estates management program.
  4. I think badgers tend to be more sensitive to trees than most developers! Lets face it, if you are building your suite of apartments under a huge oak then you are not likely to want it falling on you. But I will check back soon to make sure their protective fencing is up to scratch!
  5. Looks like you just about have Christmas covered, what with the trees an' all! Are you planning on a brewery next? Or perhaps a line in hideous jumpers?
  6. Its an ovipositor. They look pretty scary but they do not sting. I often see them around my wood pile too when cutting logs! Nice picture!
  7. Why use a MEWP when there is a perfectly good scaffold of barrels to stand on?
  8. All were found on oak (in fact they are all on the same tree).
  9. No. Fraxinus is dioecious! Does it have black pyramoidal buds?
  10. Yes, As long as something else doesn't get it first!
  11. I would agree with Paulownia from that pic No2 is a Snakebark maple cultivar No 1 is a lime but I have no idea what the fancy thing is beside it!
  12. Congratulations. 38 and 39 should be a doddle now you are in "assessment mode"
  13. ..............still waiting....................................
  14. Thanks folks. Ill check these out.
  15. Can anyone recommend a set of reasonably priced rechargeable walkie talkies with good range that would be suitable for young kids? I don't want toys but then again I am not looking for top of the range professional ones either. Thanks
  16. Looks like the saprophyte Xylaria polymorpha or Dead man's fingers.
  17. Thanks Quickthorn. A very useful link! I will look into this.
  18. Sorry my mistake it was Dunedin he was referring to. He described it as the place Scots go when they are looking for a cold dreary Scottish-like climate in the South Pacific!
  19. I would second that.
  20. LOL. Is that a good or a bad thing?
  21. Is Christchurch as dreary as Billy Connolly says it is?
