  1. Strange concept. Why would you need chainsaw protection whilst walking in the hills? Alternatively when would you want crampons in a tree? I am sure its a fantastic boot all the same.
  2. I like the look of these! HighBall? Throw Weight, 10oz : SherrillTree Tree Care Equipment Any suppliers stocking them in the UK?
  3. He must have quite a collection of rusty tractor bits by now!
  4. Because sometimes it is good for triangulating tree positions with known features on the plan directly into the program. Also when I am working away from home for several days I need to be able to use autoCAD in the evenings rather than wait till I return to the office to find I have missed something! So what is the problem with the toughbooks? I would have thought by the Mark IV they should have ironed out any problems and that the boot up would be fairly quick. But I have no experience with them. What alternative would you recommend? I had been using a HP tablet but it is painfully slow and difficult to read in daylight!
  5. Thanks Phil are they really that bad? I need something that will run AutoCAD, and will stand up to wet weather. Paper gets wet even in a weather writer!
  6. How does it compare to the likes of a panasonic toughbook? I am looking for something rugged and waterproof but the toughbooks are astronomically priced! What does everyone else use?
  7. Are they ok to use in the rain? How robust are they?
  8. how about a McCulloch chainsaw? a Las Vegas wedding? a Mexican divorce? or a baby's arm holding an apple?
  9. a new Matador? a new mastodon? a Maverick? a Mustang? a Montego? a Merc Montclair? a Mark IV? a meteor? a Mercedes? an MG? or a Malibu? a Mort Moriarty? a Maserati? a Mac truck? a Mazda? a new Monza? or a moped? a Winnebago?--Hell, a herd of Winnebago's? they're giving 'em away
  10. a dream date in kneepads with Paul Williams?
  11. a year's supply of antibiotics
  12. real simulated Indian jewelry
  13. a personally autographed picture of Randy Mantooth
  14. a solid gold Kama Sutra coffee pot
  15. a king-size Titanic unsinkable Molly Brown waterbed with polybendum
  16. Not rough at all. Nice and clear. I particularly enjoyed your choice of music! What program did you use for the titles/editing? Looking forward to the next one, especially if it has a reggae backing track.
  17. Sorry just read through the whole thing and answered my own queries. So I assume that you have concluded the damage is purely down to incremental growth of roots rather than clay shrinkage subsidence. I think it unlikely that the tree predates the house (tulip trees are from the poplar family i.e. fast growing). So I do not think that heave is an issue. Has the owner taken this up with his insurance company? Insurers will usually carry out all the structural, soil and tree surveys and testing necessary to establish the cause of damage and will often pay for the removal if required.
  18. What a fantastic tree. Seems a shame to cut it down. When I read your original post I thought a root barrier would be the obvious solution.....then I saw the photograph! It is far too close to the property. Have you established whether or not the house is built on shrinkable clays? What is the extent of the damage? What does the owner want? Is there a TPO on it?
  19. Thanks for the feedback guys. Does anyone know which NPTC units are for life and which ones yoou need to take refreshers for?
  20. Can anyone give me an idea of what it costs to be trained and assessed for CS40 and 41 please?
  21. I assume you mean that the fungus assists in delamination by the breakdown of lignin and the already weakened tissue is then pulled appart by forces acting on the crown? So its a case of fungal action first followed by mechanical/abiotic action rather than the other way round?
  22. Hmn. Not sure what you mean by predetermined here? Is it not exacerbated by rather than predetermined? Please expand.
  23. What was that..... Shear bum crack?
