  1. It looks ridiculous. But the tree surgeon has created a nice little recurring pruning job.
  2. Talking of which......a cherry rising from the ashes
  3. hamadryad thought you mike like this:
  4. Whoa! sweeping gneralisation. Look out! I first worked as a forester, then a tree surgeon before going to university to study arboriculture. 80% of my work is consultancy and 20% tree surgery. I enjoy the latter far more but the consultancy work pays well. I could equally say that many tree surgeons know how to weild a saw but when it comes to diagnosis of problems they are found lacking. Some can't even tell the difference between a sycamore and a horse chestnut!
  5. Murky buckets............as the French say!
  6. Shot Weighted Hammer? Where does one buy one of these? I've never heard of it.
  7. Err.........sorry for being thick .....but how do you use the wood for a break? Is it possible to achieve similar results with the Lockjack Sport?
  8. Yeah I'd agree with Len. Take it to Dr Stephen Woodward and he will set you right!
  9. I pay them nothing! Vastly overpriced. Save your money and spend it on a website or advertise in your local rag.
  10. Now that the infernal weed has gone, I hope you planted something native in its place..............say a juniper?
  11. No I am looking for the Tree Austria Duo 3.1 with the replaceable bridge. The 3 does not have a replaceable bridge.
  12. Does anyone know where I can purchase this harness in the UK? Thanks
  13. Any Spaghetti Western, Blade Runner, Brazil, Fargo, Man Bites Dog, Blazing Saddles, Saving Private Ryan, Raising Arizona, Bedazzled, Midnight Express, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers............ to name but a few
  14. I want to come and work with you! I spent a year at UBC and loved it. Sad to leave at the end of the year.
  15. Testicles like frisbees after that!
  16. One to sell the removed 65p lightbulb to the MOD for £22.51!
  17. Well its definitely bilberry Vaccinium myrtillus. It will have leaves in the summer and berries hopefully. If its not I'll eat my pot of bilberry jam!
  18. Thanks for your response. I will try the tax office. I would have thought someone here has done this already and could give me some pointers. Perhaps my post isn't very clear?
  19. I wish to put my own vehicle (landrover) through my books. It will be used entirely for the business. Can anyone please enlighten me on how best to do this please? Do I sell it to my business? If so if there is insufficient funds in the business what do I do then? How much depreciation is acceptable and how do I show this in my books. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks
  20. Nice Vid. Only one strop around the tree........that's old school. The health and saafety boys on this side of the pond would have kittens if they saw you do that! Where abouts was this shot? Were the home owners getting nervous about the size of the tree?
  21. Quote: "I heard a story once about a chap whose loose jumper got caught in a pto, lost his arm. The whole thing looked like a pile of s@*t and it was over engineered and poorly constructed". Are you talking about the guys arm here?
  22. Hmmmmmm.........Does it slaken off when you take your weight off the deice and bind when you reapply your weight?
  23. I watched a very interesting program on TV, which was all about a former Eastenders Actress (Kara Tointon) and her struggle with Dyslexia. She went and had a number of reading tests with a specialist who tried out a number of coloured transparencies over the text. She then had a more detailed analysis done to get a tinted pair of prescription reading glasses made. To learn her lines for Eastenders she would write them out over and over and get her parents to act them out with her (this took much effort). In the program she learned a technique using postit notes with key words on them which she linked together. Anyway it worked wonders for her. Heres a link. BBC - BBC Three Programmes - Kara Tointon: Don't Call Me Stupid Unfortunately the footage doesnot appear to be available any more. I don't suffer myself but I hope this is of interest. All the best
