  1. Ah, just seen your other post on ..Tacho rules, Sorry
  2. Cheers Rog, that will be a very useful post. There's a whole load of confusion on this, as you've probably seen in related threads if you've searched them. Do you have good knowledge of tachograph regulations?, as that is another area that has a lack of clarity on here.
  3. 1. No. tell him where to go. 2. No. " but if you injure someone or cause damage to other property in either case and someone wanted to claim, you may have something to answer for. Carry on.

  6. had problems with accessing arbtalk using bookmark I'd set, I got same error message. ok if just accessed through a search. Deleted bookmark and reset it and not had problem since.
  7. a conversion will cost about 1200 - 2500 depending on tank options and single point or multipoint type. my 3.9 disco has a basic single point system and 80 litre tank (holds less) in the boot. Cost 1100 four years ago, don't think installation costs have risen too much, possibly even decreased since. Gas here ranges from 67p to 79p per litre. The tank gives me about160 miles range with usual town driving. about 14mpg I guess on gas, petrol gave about 17mpg. Have not run on petrol at all since I blocked the fuel lines about two years ago and haven't got round to sorting it out yet but then have not found it a problem. Local LR breaker reckons he sees a lot of problems from poorly fitted kits so if you get a conversion make sure it's from somebody reputable. Only problem mines had is a dodgy electrical connection in 40000 miles. (oh, the blocked fuel lines was due to not keeping enough petrol in the tank which I suppose is a related problem, but that was my fault) slightly less power on gas, but no real issue. I'd have one converted again, sure you'll find sceptics though!
  8. Looking at heating options for a camper van myself at the mo, woodburner I think would be the preferred option. Seen these on ebay which might be of interest, WOODBURNER, YURT, CAMPER, BOAT, GARAGE, HUT | eBay The Windy Smithy burners do look good. having the air intake for a woodburner from outside the vehicle would seem like a good idea for a burner installed in a smallish space. I've seen domestic woodburners with that facility, but nothing really suitable for a camper so it may be a diy job. I'd like to hear opinions on eberspacher or propex systems too if anyone's got any experience of those and I can jump on the thread a little:blushing:
  9. oops Passy beat me to that comment.
  10. Another thing, the sugoi can be a bit harsh for pruning smaller stuff. Had no problems with the longer one other than it can get caught a bit when climbing and pull itself out of the sheath by the handle. If you're not climbing much it wouldn't be an issue.
  11. I have the longer Sugoi, when I replace it I will go for the shorter one, it's a bit long for strapping to the leg where I prefer it. Hope that helps.
  12. Thanks for the replies guys, Tree cutter Stu, Oldmilltrees and nepia have offered their services, I think the fair thing to do would be to offer it in that order, as that's how replies came in. I'm getting some photos sent, so will have more of an idea of whats likely to be involved and will be in touch. I remember cutting loads of yew and removing the tips for medical use, but that must be nearly 15 years ago, had no idea it was still in use. It wasn't my job, but I think it turned out to be not really a viable activity at the time so we only did it once. Many thanks again, Alex
  13. Hi folks, I'm in Birmingham and have been asked to do some work for relatives in Coulsdon, probably late September-ish. Just wondering if any of you near there might be interested in chipping and dealing with the waste? Not 100% sure of quantities, but I would only imagine an hour or so and a transit load of chip, mostly yew I think. I'd have stuff stacked and ready to chip and be there to help. It'll save me dragging equipment down there and hunting for a waste site. If you might be interested let me know and give me an idea of price. I know that's a bit difficult as I don't really know what I'm dealing with yet, but a rough idea of a minimum charge, hourly charge/charge per load would be useful. Time would be quite flexible over a few days as I will be staying there for a bit. Cheers, Alex

Flyguy, what's the noise like with the Vulcan fan? It does look like an interesting thing to have sitting on top of the stove
  15. Global in Kings Heath, put Global Sales into your browser should come up.
  16. Yep got one, great waterproof for recreational stuff, keeps me bone dry. Wouldn't stand up to tree work though. Had a couple of montane jackets etc. Good gear.
  17. I reckon two years is about what it takes to get a new business known and running ok in this industry. Certainly was about that length of time when I started out that it seemed to become a bit easier, with repeat customers and referals bringing more work in without so much legwork. I've stopped for a few years and got back into it again, which was easier than starting from scratch, but it still takes a while for things to start ticking over again. The economic climate won't have helped any over the last couple of years, so if your business is keeping it's head above water, even only just, you should be proud of that. Stick at it, you've probably done the hardest part already.

  19. Assuming the seller is not a crook, which it would appear he is.
  20. Hi folks, A while ago my entec treebusta blew its kohler command engine to pieces. I am going to get a cs100 when funds allow, but in the short term have decided to replace the engine on this machine as all else was good. The treebustas as far as I know were sold with the kohler command or honda gxv engines which I understand (though not sure) have the same mounting. Looking for a bit of advice as to which engines will hopefully bolt straight in. Am I correct in thinking these engines are interchangeable ? Will a Briggs engine of similar hp fit (i know the shaft size will need to be correct) or are there others could use? It's not worth spending much money on this machine, so it's going to be a second hand replacement job. Any thoughts or advice much appreciated Thanks
  21. Hi, A Cousin of mine in Broad Oak currently has a use for a few loads of woodchip, and probably would take the odd load or two every now and then in future. If it would suit anyone as an occasional tip, pm me,and I'll put you in touch. Easy enough access and just tip and go. Cheers, Alex.
  22. Done Jack. You got a new bike then:001_smile: Hope all's good. Al.
  23. Just apologise and forget it like everyone else says. One lost day is not worth damaged reputation.
  24. I bought a clarke 135te and have been pleased with it. There is a good forum for welding giving lots of tips etc. Put Mig Welding Forum into your browser and you should find it. Very useful.
