  1. T'was a "tree surgeons" funeral in Hull, today. By all accounts not actually a tree worker at all just a gardener. Not sure on exact details but word on grapevine was either fell out and broke back, or half fell out and got strangled by rope. A sad day for friends and family however the incident happened.
  2. Heres some funghi found on my woodchip road at yard. Keep driving over them and booting them, but they keep coming back. Can we have a name please MonkeyD.
  3. Good point. Ban all mewps and mewp talk from the CLIMBERS forum.
  4. Bear Grylls would just tie his shoe laces together and koala up it.haha, I know what you mean by having no space to "throw", so I think the endless sling idea choked around the bare trunk to use as foot loops (almost like "fake" spikes) would be a safe bet. Alternatively, depending on how deep your pockets are, purchase a big shot and get your rope in the top first.
  5. Was waiting for the Helmet mounting jokes.
  6. The quality looks quite good, and I like the almost semi-fish eye feel. Looks a good buy. Looking forward to santa coming now.
  7. That is exactly what it looks like now mate. Job spec is job spec. Customer owns the tree. As long as you know and explain whats best arboriculturally then what can you do. The tyre tracks werent there though, that looks like some photo shop wizardry by the master.
  8. Nope the transit in question is sitting on 215 tyres at the rear and has never been stuck, EVER.(touch wood)
  9. Ohy yeah, but It is repeated on sunday at 9.p.m I think???
  10. Attenborough???? Not good enough, can someone please call Bobby a taxi because he is leaving now.:001_tt2:haha
  11. hahaha, 1. Pete, who is the little twerp??? 2. What was my truck doing there??? 3. Was the sky really that colour today??? 4. Did the customer really say leave it??? 5. Is this a wind up???
  12. aye you bestist be only joshing mucker, or else you would have a thump on your ed.
  13. He will surely be getting used to it by now.
  14. shame about the sticky stuff inside em.
  15. £275, 1 hour, 15 foot Conifers are my favourite. Love em. Like climbing big old london planes or English oaks though. Just enjoy the feel of history and granduer and stature and large spread to run around in.
  16. Those animals look a bit weird. Do they all come from Scotland??? Or more exotic places. I have never seen David Attenborough with any of those.
  17. Look, Im sorry mate but I really needed that firewood, theres no need to go all snooty bout it. hahaha:001_tt2:
  18. I agree though, skidsteers are the shiznit. Heres a picture of one to whet your appetite.
  19. We have used manitous (other telehandlers are available) for loadsa jobs, get one with a big enough reach and you can stand on the fork tines and top lombardys a right treat.
  20. Yeah, but didnt Stevie want something for yard work????
  21. Depends on how well you know the crane company owner. Cars parked underneath dont pose a problem cos you are lifting the stuff UP.
  22. Better off getting a manitou for 5k and either putting sheets down on turf or filling in the holes after. Manitou every time.
  23. Yeah, that elm was starting to go quite solid in the stems, the tips were as brittle as icicles, but I didnt need to go near them, they just smashed up when they were being swung down, it was 99.8% safe to climb.
  24. even if its fallen over and leaning in the next tree, you would climb it:thumbup:
  25. Not actual figures, just a guideline.3 blokes at say for instance £100 per day each, plus cost of fuel for saws, chipper, transit, etc for 2 days amounts to around a grand. 3 blokes for half a day, plus matey with his crane for £300 quid for half a day, plus much less fuel and chain oil equals less than dismantling in sections, plus job is over and done with without any fuss or too much noise, not disturbing many folks and not interupting busy school access at all. Can work out cheaper with a crane.
