  15. Or maybe they are taking another tree down out of shot, and that guy had just visited the designated fueling area for a top-up. He was maybe gonna walk round the obstacle but saw an interesting insect that he wanted to check out before returning to the work area, before passing the saw to the other groundsman, because he wasnt wearing a hard hat so couldnt enter the drop zone. You just never know.
  16. That guy couldve just wandered in trying to sell the "topping saw".haha Theres nothing to say it was running or anything????
  17. It is with much regret that I am having to re-post this thread for a number of reasons. Having looked back through the whole thread it became apparent that a few select comments that were meant in true jest and only aimed at a bit of playfull banter / ribbing, could well have been construed as the complete polar opposite. It seems like the classic case of something being read in another manner in which it was typed. Anyone who was upset / angered by comments by myself and others, please accept my humblest of apologies. Let me explain. The climber for this job was chosen specifically for his vast experience, proven track record and unquestionable ability to get jobs like this done, safely, professionally, and most importantly quickly with zero fuss. The smoothness of the whole operation was testament to this guys skill. Any comments regarding working practises or ability in the first draft of this thread were bourne out of pure childish jealousy on my behalf as I had so wanted to get my hands on them trees. I thought I had amplified the fact these comments were jokes by using one of these symbols----> Any comments made about climbing equipment used were aimed at simply carrying on the ongoing debate / banter on arbtalk regarding prussiks and newer techniques i.e, hitch climber pulley and V.T knot. Again I believed these comments to be obvious jokes by using this symbol -----> It was not my intention to upset anyone or to have anyone feel I was intentionally bad mouthing them. As said above the climber was chosen head and shoulders above anyone else, including me. From the few chances I have had to work or meet this chap, i already have a great deal of respect for him and realised very quickly from first meet that there was a massive amount I could potentially learn from him. I hope this hasnt ruined this. The whole job was fantastic to be a part of and really was a smooth no nonsense operation from start to finish. I sincerely hope this will clear up any il feelings. I also hope that no friendship / work relate connections are severed due to my ill thought out attempt at humerous banter. Once again my apologies for lack of judgement. Heres some photos from the job. Oh and to Big Ammer, the banksmen wasnt called whatever you said, his name was completely different but I am not willing to post on here. I will however say that he did a fantastic job of keeping the whole operation running smoothly.
  18. Did you mill the gate posts yourself??? haha
  19. Sold em when I shaved my head. Only have clippers now.
  20. ooops, no, I tipped all the crap out of it and used it as a sandwhich box.
  21. I think I have a first aid kit somewhere in the van. haha
  22. Also If your buying a welder, buy a 4 inch grinder aswell. Great for keeping things neat, or getting rust off so its back to bear metal, or for cutting your bits out, or for starting again and cutting through crap welds. Defo get a grinder. and cutting discs and flappy discs.
  23. haha, penfold that was what I thought, "is that a carpenters tool" haha
  24. Heres some of my holiday snaps from last year when I was back "home" in Brighton. Think I took these near "the level". Cant remember, couldve been near pavilion. However I should of been taking pics of wife and me laddo so I got into trouble anyways. I know of one "monster" elm round here but am keeping it whereabouts secret to stop tree huggers crowding it and compacting the soil above its roots.
  25. Oh, good golly gosh yes, how obvious hahaha Can I eat em???
