  1. That is powerful grim
  2. Hey Lee, where did you get that trick outrigger sea kayak? It looks ideal for Irish Sea sea bass action. Been out shore fishing twice this autumn. Caught some seaweed, some ballan wrasse and a cold.
  3. Oops BBC NEWS | World | Americas | Crane splits home in half
  4. As long as people keep looking at the bottom line and little else, the quality will continue to drop. Every one of these Rogue Traders has been employed because they were the cheapest by a client who thought they were going to get something for nothing.

    Arbphone

What about this new "rugged" Nokia that's about to come out? Nokia Europe - Nokia 3720 classic - Products Doesn't look that tough, but there are plenty of videos in UToob of people throwing them in water or running over them (an average day on an arb site, then). I'm going to order one this weekend, so by monday I should be able to report how I managed to smash it into little pieces. Maybe I'll get Mr Ed to drop it into my pint (again).

    Cod 6

Is that from the same series as "Carp Wars" ("this time it's personal")? I played it so much I almost melted my TackleBox360.
  7. They look a very professional outfit
  8. Add sugar next time. S'nicer
  9. I'm wearing it now. Aren't you? The Merrist Wood course was £800 in 1997. Do what I did and buy an ex-local authority Sunshine van (very clean windows) for £250, camp up near the paddocks and hunt squirrels (insert banjo music here).
  10. Hey, me too! Got to hang around and admire the horsey girls flouncing around. Did the TWTS (that's what it's called!) in '97 and it got the ball rolling- bear in mind it's jst the starting point, not the end in itself. You can only learn so much in 10- 12 weeks. Good luck.
  11. One of my lecturers on my landscape architecture course is doing all the meadow planting down there. It sounds like an absolute circus.
  12. The evidence.
  13. I downloaded Filemaker's own Business Productivity Pack, and it looks pretty comprehensive. It's a free download if you buy Filemaker, as far as I can tell. I'm planning to try to set it up as soon as I can (super-busy just now). If it looks good, I'll post the details.
  14. Loving the Labrorilla (or is it chimpanador)? It looks really sad.
  15. Even though I'm a consultant rather than a contractor most of the time these days, I find it's a waste of time competing purely on price- someone will always do the job for less. That said, I increasingly seem to get the job of re-doing reports which get rejected by councils or even that the customer sees and realises isn't up to scratch. It might take a while, but I'd say that the public's perception of good and bad tree work (and reports) is improving. Eventually we're going to end up with an increasing client base that will pay that little bit extra (we're often talking about the difference of a couple of hundred pounds anyway, aren't we?) for a high-quality job. I hope.
  16. Morning all! Waterproof everything on for a day's surveying in North Wales this morning!
  17. What about Filemaker database software with the free "business pack"? Works on PCs and Macs and has invoicing, marketing thingies, CRM (Customer Relationship Manager) to handle all your customer details and follow-ups etc. Just got it last week and getting to grips with it, but it seems very handy and pretty cheap at £219.
  18. Have you tried Anderson Tree Care? I worked for them years ago. Cracking bunch of guys.
  19. Thanks for taking the time to post this stuff, Tony.

Always found it a bit of an old boy's club. And their training events are far too expensive.
  21. "York-Upon-Ganges" is it? I've used a few acres of that myself. Apparently, the children quarrying it get a pair of protective sandals for their 10th birthday now!
  22. Is that "Krishna"-coloured sandstone there? Whichever it is, it's a great match for the mellow brick colour on the building. Tideeeeeee. So, that's a Hot Rust? Or a Rust Rod? Hot Rust Rod?
  23. Well put that man!
  24. Red oak is softwood? It's not even "soft wood". It's a bit brittle and not very dimensionally stable, but it's not soft. Baffling.
  25. Tidy!
