  1. Didn't look opposite to me. To be fair, the Liquidamber looks like this:
  2. Not sure what dry weather would do? Maybe. The only trigger I've ever remarked on has been early frosts, but I can't remember whether there were early frosts when I took that pic. Have you seen a tulip tree before?
  3. Erm, terminal shoots of Liquidambar styraciflua f. rotundiloba ?
  4. This one doesn't always colour up like that. Couldn't say what the variable that might trigger it might be, though? It's sheltered and shaded under other trees and is within 300m of the sea. I can see that I'm going to have to get very obscure to foil your powers of observation.
  5. Is this the world famous "Buster Gonad" beech?
  6. Here's a better pic of it.
  7. It's good but it's not right Hang on. Yep! Full points to Giles. Damn your oily hide
  8. The manufacturers are clearly strong proponents of the slap-bass genre. Aren't most things which end in "o-matic" generally pretty awesome? Considering how long it takes me to sharpen a chain, this could pay for itself in a month or two at the most. I'm off to HMV to get Level 42's greatest hits.
  9. Nice one, cutter. Doesn't that first scan knock the fluff out of you? Had our 12-week scan on little tree planter 2 earlier in the week. Great stuff. Best of luck.
  10. Some really good shots there, guys. I wonder what joe public thought of you lot rolling about in the undergrowth with your flashes going.
  11. Back at you! Here's one from the local botanical garden here in Bangor:
  12. Isn't in my book. Maybe I need a better book... Looks a bit like "Cousin It" off the Addams Family
  13. Nothofagus somethingorother?
  14. It's weird, the pinnate leaves on that one looked alternate. what's up with dat?
  15. John can they grow lychees in Worcester? I'm flippin' moving down if you can!
  16. Back o' the net! Katsura it is. Haven't the foggiest what yours is. Look a bit walnutty yet not. Are those alternate buds?
  17. Nope.
  18. here's one for youse:
  19. There's one in a garden I'm doing some inspections in. It's only around 25-30, C6 metres tall but already starting to look quite elegant. It's got a very airy crown and doesn't cast much shade. Lovely thing.
  20. Good finish on those raised beds. Keep us posted as the project develops.
  21. You want how much a day!!?? Just kidding. Thanks to those who got in touch. I'll contact you back before the weekend.
  22. Hi All. I've got a couple of large surveys coming up in the next 4 weeks or so and could do with a hand. The surveys will be infrastructure development sites to BS 5837 in North Wales and the North West. The person(s) would need to have experience of undertaking BS 5837 surveys, good ident and P&D and be comfortable using handheld (PDA) data collection units. I'm willing to offer some training on the technical aspects of these sorts of projects as we go along, but the fundamentals will need to be there. The infrastructure work I do seems to be picking up quite strongly at the moment, so the work could potentially develop into a full-time post provided the surveying quality is there and you're willing to put up with my little peccadiloes. PM me if interested with details and day rate expected. Cheers Scott
  23. "see you later!" "not if I see you first"
  24. I know what I'd get....
  25. I make a lovely jam out of old porn mags
