  4. :thumbup:Here are a couple of pictures of my firewood for 2011 to 2012
  5. Hasn't stopped been doing approximately 4 m³ a week have got 12 m³ to do over the next three weeks so nice and steady
  6. where I shoot and beat the day costs £12,000 for eight guns
  7. I have been using vegetable oil for the last three or four years and have had no trouble.
  8. if he buys the timber and takes it back to his premises he should be running on white diesel. If he harvest the timber and takes it back to his premises he can run on red diesel. A farmer can transport wheat from the field to his farm on red diesel. He can't transport a product from his farm to another destination on red diesel. The regulations can be complicated if you wish to make them so.
  9. Have any companies been doing cabling work within the last few years near the oak. Because after watching one company cut through every tree root a metre deep on one side of some street trees I am surprised there are not many more falling and dying.
  10. As I said yesterday here is a picture of mine with winch on back. its four-wheel-drive
  11. I am 50
  12. I've got one but with a winch fitted which I'm using on a job at the moment I will post some pictures tomorrow
  13. I've started a bit of discussion on this one on the crane I use if I pick up its maximum load close in and extend the boom the relief valve will let by and the crane lowered to the ground. Having said this if you read my last paragraph the crane in the pictures was only used for horse manure. The supplier has supplied a new casting free of charge so far and is in discussions with the manufacturer for obvious reasons I cannot name the manufacturer yet
  14. picture one shows a small blowhole at the top on the right-hand side you will see slag in the middle of the casting whets failed and this extends approximately 3 to 4 inches. As to overloading from what I understand it will be impossible to overload on pickup because of pressure relief valve in the valve block which prevention from picking up too much load. Once you exceed the safe working load the valve opens and it bypasses. Which prevention overloading the crane having said that the crane is only used to pick up horse **** so I don't think it was overloaded.
  15. In some woods was working in recently they had chestnut stacked roadside which they sold the chipping at £19.50 per tonne so I was to hold approximately 200 t was chipped and loaded. One of the estates I work on gets £75 per tonne delivered into the hopper of the boiler
  16. Hopefully you can see from the pictures where the flaw is in the casting
  17. My Ford tractor 5610 driveing the log splitter
  18. I will load some photos which will show the manufacturer should have picked it up. But first could someone tell me how to get photos on here.
  19. Can't name the crane yet for obvious reasons it was a flaw in the metal where the cast bolts to the trailer frame the casting gave way. I don't think the crane was working anywhere near it safe working load it is only used to load manure luckily it gave way with the crane in the back of the trailer
  20. Has anyone heard of forestry crans failing underload. I.e. the casting at the base of the post failing crane was approximately 4 years old looks like a floor in the casting will give further information later and possibly photographs. But it may be a good idea to check your crane.
  21. Worthing seems to be a popular place on here I'm based in Worthing and a yard at Findon if you send me your details and I get any work I will pass it on you can contact me through the website http://www.Sussex logs.co.uk
  22. Having 200 acres of woodland spending up to 80 K on wages and looking to invest 50 K in machinery I'm afraid the line on volunteer staff and some full-time I can't see how will never be reliant on grants. But if you want machinery and processors speak to Wilson's
  23. your 50,000 to spend is that before or after his wages I presume from reading the above its before his wages are deducted?
  24. I think you should spend the money on getting in a local contractor to do the work. I personally think there is too many volunteers doing work which should be done by professionals especially when that work is grant aided surely it is best to put the money back into the local community.
