  2. No pictures am afraid but before Christmas picked up I live .5 armour piercing and two weeks ago when looking at some timber 2 inch live mortar and on Sunday a friend in the same area picked up another .5 armour piercing will try and get some pictures of the graves in the Woods
  3. Does anyone know an assessor who will do CS 32 in the Sussex area. There is two or three of us who wish to do the course and we have access to medium and large trees and are possibly willing to pay cash
  4. hi lm in worthing you can get in touch at Sussex Logs - Quality Seasoned Logs
  5. thank you for correcting me and £119 million is a staggering amount of interest it might you wonder how long it will take is to pay the debt back especially when you consider is only in the last 10 years we repaid the debt from the Second World War
  6. that is exactly what I'm saying. The interest on the money we followed over the last few years is staggering well over £100 million a year.
  7. What would you suggest should be taxed instead of fuel tax revenue from fuel helps pay for all the services we use
  8. where abouts are you in Sussex. Was a container cut open and when did it happen
  9. In the summer 2010 I was using a 1939 D4 Caterpillar with a 10 ton winch to drag windblown ash including the stumps I would put pictures up but I don't know how
  10. £20 a ton roadside
  11. I have paid £14 per cubic metre of ash and oak approximately 80 feet high I am cutting some tomorrow which I paid five pounds cubic metre for ash oak field maple but it is on a bit of a slope
  12. it's all worth between £20 per cubic metre to £25 per cubic metre
  13. I use Liverpool and Victoria fully comp any driver over 25 for business use for myself 240 pounds Land Rover 110
  14. it does not matter if the tracks loads are not part of the public highway if it's forestry commission ground you still need to be insured unless I am misunderstanding you
  15. the commission requires all vehicles to be insured if used on their land having worked for the commission they are very strict on this
  16. At one of the Woods I work in the commission revamped the car park and the approach road the forestry track from the car park was renewed for three quarters of a mile the only trouble was forestry vehicles were not allowed to use it as it was for walkers and bicycles and horse riders
  17. the commission costs us the taxpayer approximately 15,000,000 a year . As for sustainable forests in the last few years they have been planting less acreage than the Felling they are also playing with natural regeneration ie a way of saving money. As for grey squirrels and deer the commission they do not control the numbers properly. As for qualified personnel some of them haven't got a clue.
  18. I presume you're talking about rewell wood hundred acres plus of chestnut beach and softwood probably going back to the Duke in March the commission also has 600 acres on lease from the trust the commission has sold a large quantity of land over the years the trouble with the trust is they don't use the woodland that got one of their properties as a biomass heating plant and they by the woodchip from a local supplier even though they have 500 acres of woodland opposite the property
  19. Just a thought how many of you know how much of the forestry commission ground is on a lease. In Sussex I can name several thousand acres so I would presume that the ground will be offered to the leaseholder first and considering the forestry commission was set up to grow timber I believe it should have nothing to do with building car parks cycle tracks and other things not to do with forestry
  20. No I'm afraid I've never been to the college
  21. why would you think that Forestry Commission land is not private just because the land is owned by the government does not mean it isn't private
  22. ( the sentence British taxpayer so we should have a right to use it whenever we like) what you should understand is some of the forestry commission ground is on lease and it depends on the wording of the lease . The trouble with Joe Public is they tend to walk anywhere it like even when you're Felling timber even if they are meant to stick to the footpath
  23. posch make a tool to tie up billets
  24. mine cuts very well but it does have a 12 hp twin cylinder diesel My saw blade is bigger than yours I think it's 26 inches in diameter I presume that answers your last sentence in your quote
  25. I have one but mine had a single cylinder diesel engine which I replaced with a two cylinder Lister
