  4. I will have to have a look most of it is quite big and the majority is cricket bat willow and it is probably best to get it shot in one hit

  8. No I've never run out I calculate how much I need per day from September to end of March and I make sure I've got that much in stock. I've already started buying timber for next season and the timber I've cut this summer is for next season as well.
  9. My 3120 has a timer button as well I think it's the older saws that have it. when I bought mine it was missing the bar, chain and some other parts but it only cost 50 quid and £150 for bar chain and other parts it only comes out a few times a year this year to fell some large Douglas
  10. They are very easy to convert I built my own body out of steel but if I was doing it again I would use aluminium you can buy all the sections quite easily. If I was you I would move the fuel tank to under the driver's seat (a military one) this then allows you to put secure storage under the body. I will upload some photos of mine tomorrow
  11. I've been offered 50 cord at roadside 90% silver birch the rest sycamore what do you think I should pay per cord
  12. just bought some £75 per cord plus VAT 80% ash 20% sycamore at roadside
  13. only doing 12 m³ a week but am beating two days a week and fully booked until 18 December
  14. That's interesting but I have several customers who have fitted gasification boilers and have found it cheaper than using gas. And a lot of people use it to heat one room instead of the whole house.
  15. still paying hundred pounds per month for yard and covered area
  16. 3.6 cubic metres in a cord but of course that is with air space. Harvesting and extraction is between 10 and £14 a tonne. I was paying two years ago £300 an acre for 20-year-old chestnut.
  17. and one of the big forestry contractors looked at the job I'm doing at the moment and offered £8 a ton. I do buy in timber from a local estate in cord at £70 a cord
  18. I would be quite happy for you to drop a roll on roll off container the price would still be the same because I'm not VAT registered and at the moment I'm only selling ash because that's all I've got. but you would have to wait some time for me to fill the bin.
  19. I don't have to put a figure on it if I was selling on I would. the way I look at it if I earn £20,000 a year in wages it is good enough. in the season I deliver approximately 6 m³ a day and I start at 8 o'clock and I'm normally home by 2:30 to 3 o'clock five days a week. In the summer I tend to start earlier but finish same time
  20. I thought forestry and other tree workers were made of tougher stuff used to drive a Series III diesel from Worthing to Chester to work every week and come back weekends. and used to do 150 mile round trip a day. I now drive a 1987 defender 200 TDI and think of nothing of driving to the girlfriends and back 142 miles to be exact. So that 53 I must be a lot younger than you boys
  21. I sell between £60-£70 a cubic metre delivered no VAT. I buy timber standing at £10 a tonne to have it delivered to my yard it costs me approximately £10 per tonne. When I buy it from a local estate I tend to cut process on site and I make a very good living at it.
  22. selling hardwood logs mostly ash £70 cubic metre delivered. ( that is the going rate around here)
