  1. are you sure it burns diesel when I did some work on some big engines they didn't burn diesel it was a heavy oil
  2. I've stirred the **** now it easy if red diesel is the same price as white diesel all you have to do is claim it back to the tax system which you do now if you pay tax I claim the cost of my red diesel back I also claim the cost of my what diesel back so that no difference unless of course you don't pay tax you only work for cash. All you have to do is prove that you use red diesel for the purpose it's designed for I can't see a problem with this
  3. I'm sorry for my earlier post the 3.50 to 5 pounds per cubic foot was at roadside UPM tillHill wanted £10 a tonne standing for oak firewood and they were talking about double that if I got any decent butts
  4. I think you should pay the same amount of money for red diesel as you do for white so there will be no advantage for some people to use it on the road
  5. The farm where I have my yard has a clay shoot on it and over the last several months they have lost a lot of batteries had quad bikes stolen and a couple of weeks ago they broke in and stole two quad bikes they were chased by the police they crashed the stolen 4x4 and trailer and got a way of one quad bike the stolen 4x4 was taken to a police pound where they broke in and set fire to it to remove any evidence and a week before on the farm a Land Rover. And found burnt out in Kent at a certain type of site
  6. I will be there Sunday have been for the last few years and is very good
  7. Between 3.50 and 5 pounds is about the going rate I think
  8. I can't fault the split master I've had it about five years had it form new and have had no trouble some weeks it is used every day but I do keep it well oiled.
  9. posch split master 30 ton
  10. Almost finished this one about 300 m³ ready for the winter:thumbup::thumbup:
  11. it's quite difficult to say as soon as the shooting season is finished and the catching up is done and the ground is dry I start cutting this year probably done between 400 and 500 m³ having said that already sold some of course. I will put a another picture of the large stack when I can
  12. you will notice it's only the ends of the stacks it easier to build the corner up if the flat surface is down the rest of it is mostly face up bark down but I don't think it makes a lot of difference
  13. A couple of pictures of stacks in my yard
  14. Some pictures of my wood stacks
  15. I do not answer the phone straightaway the house phone is on a answer machine because I'm not there I cannot answer. The yard I work out of there is no mobile reception so consequently I have to ring everyone back so in theory I should have a bad business. Last year I turned down a approximately 200 log orders because I was too busy I only sell logs and that's all do. the business is extremely good
  16. Can a mobile sawmill saw this lot in a day if not how many days I know it's almost asking how long is a bit of string but I need a rough cost It will be softwood , 9x2 5 m long 100 off 6x2 4.2 m long 150 off 4x2 2.4 long 150 off
  17. They used to say one cord of Wood per acre per year
  18. is it chanctonbury ring . it does have cracking views there is a car park at the bottom of the hill. I was looking up at it yesterday(Sunday ) from the airfield
  19. It's a fantastic place for a picnic it's a little bit of a walk from the car park but you can spend all day there kicking the ball around
  20. If anyone is interested apparently this weekend there is some rack benches working at wiston near Steyning
  21. as far as I can see it will probably help the forestry industry that is the growers and harvesters for far too long. There's been no money or not a lot ingrowing trees I can remember within the last 20 years. A pound a tonne for things is now becoming economic to bring some neglected Woods back into production.
  22. The trouble with the Forestry Commission is it's not making any money. It's not doing what it was set up to do supply timber you forgot to many groups with their own agenda within the organisation. It shouldn't be cutting down trees for habitat restoration, biodiversity, Heath and more restoration. Creating car parks and cycle tracks. One of the local woods near me has had a new car park built a forestry track made up with crushed stone for bikes, horses and pedestrians. And guess what, you're no longer be allowed to use it for extraction of timber. And when working near the car park every time you take a step you have got to be looking out for the dog ****.
  23. The make up of the panel worry me. There seems to be no voice from the industry on board. As for the National trust of the Woodland trust taking on some the ground from the Forestry Commission. I don't think they could afford to the sheer cost of and maintenance would be more than they can bear.
