  1. Call Terry Crick at Apex - 07791605132 - he's got a good set up also on Cannock Chase (and I would think his classroom is actually closer to you).
  2. Cheers mate, I'm working on it!
  3. That would be mint. The reward would be doubled if that was the outcome!
  4. I'll wind my neck in then - I'm sure you're right! It is to do with the EGR and that's what's fitted on the 300 autos I was talking about. I didn't realise they had put it on the manual gearbox versions as well so apologies. (In my defence I hadn't read your post before I wrote mine)!
  5. Do you mean an ECU? If you do then no it doesn't, they are all mechanical, like the 200. Some of the 300tdi autos in discos and Range Rovers are a bit more complicated but I'm pretty certain they haven't got an ECU.
  6. Just a quick post to share a bit of info I've picked up whilst chasing this machine up. I have spoken to a few trailer 'experts' as I am trying to find an ultimate hitch lock that will secure hitches whilst attached to vehicles and it would appear that they are all pretty easy to defeat if you know what you are doing (and you can be fairly sure the people who help themselves to other people's stuff do know what they're doing!). One of the most important things I have heard is that if you secure your trailers with a hitch lock when they aren't attached to a vehicle it is MASSIVELY IMPORTANT that you block up the hole that the 50mm ball sits in. If you don't, thieves will simply lower the hitch onto the crown of their towball, strap it in place and tow it away to deal with the lock elsewhere, or they even grind their balls down (I'd like to do that to the c***s that took my chipper) so that the hitch will drop on whilst still locked. There are proprietary balls on sale for this purpose, or you can make your own out of an old tow ball but make sure you leave a little stub on the bottom so you can remove it (and don't leave a massive stub or it will be really easy to take your trailer!). There is still £1000 for anyone who can direct me to my chipper by the way - keep looking people!!!
  7. Find out who's doing utility pruning in your area - they often like to have local tip sites for chip.
  8. They should both fit the same - the difference is in the gearbox bell housings (the R380 gearbox fitted to 300Tdis has a longer bell housing and the whole engine subsequently sits further forward in the engine bay than that on the LT77 fitted to the 200 and 2.5 turbo). If the 200 and 300 are both out of Defenders they should go straight in, Tdi engines out of Discos have the turbo located differently and this fouls in a Defender subsequently requiring more modification. They are all basically the same as the old 2.25 petrol and diesel engines - if you put all 4 cylinder LR engines side by side the blocks are pretty much identical and accept each other's engine/gearbox/flywheel mounts.
  9. Steve Stevenson (his real name!) has a really good tracked 1928 for the right money if you're looking for one that can go absolutely anywhere - he's down in Essex or Kent (South of Brum is all pretty much the same to me to be fair). He had it listed on eBay over xmas but it's not there now so he might have sold it - PM me for his number if it's of interest. If anyone offers you a wheeled 1928 please let me know - mine's gone walkies...
  10. I'll be the third if you like, then we can put it to bed and get on with the year! Some bums stole my chipper on Tuesday, which was pretty rubbish. As already mentioned, at least we've got our health and nobody got hurt!
  11. Please do - it'd be the perfect excuse for a holiday if it were to turn up over the water!
  12. Cheers Pete, I appreciate it. I suppose you're getting ready to 'quote me happy...'?
  13. Thanks Pete - I'd be grateful. I'm so peed off I can't tell you!!!
  14. Cheers Greg, your a scholar! We should be able to manage but I really appreciate the offer, thank you.
  15. Sorry - I know this is also posted in general chat but I listed it there immediately after the theft to try and raise awareness. We had a Greenmech 1928 road tow serial number 8053 stolen from a layby on the A525 today - it was removed from the back of a van whilst the lads were working less than 100m away. There is a £1000 cash reward (no questions asked) for information leading to the return/recovery of this machine (any info will be treated in confidence).
  16. Serial number 8053 it has Arbtech servicing stickers on either side and a fleet number H1578 on the nearside. No spare wheel fitted. There are several other give-aways I don't want to disclose but I could certainly determine/prove this was my machine very easily if the identity was altered. It was hitch locked onto the van - I don't know how it was removed but the van was not damaged. Ears to the ground people - any info coming my way will be treated with utmost confidentiality and repayed with cash as previously mentioned. Ultimately I'd like my machine back, I'm not seeking retribution.
  17. You're a gent- glad it's still doing sterling service!
  18. I has had a chipper stolen off the back of one of my vans in the whitchurch ellesmere wrexham area 1 hour ago - it isn't insured so I am extremely gutted. If anyone can give me information that leads to its return I will give them £1000 cash no questions asked. It is a 2008 greenmech 1928 road tow in good condition with a white bonnet. Any info, give me a call on 07970188050. Cheers, Dan.
  19. Hi I've got a few lads who need to do their multiple windblow assessment and I'm trying to find a suitable site within an hour(ish) of Crewe. If anybody knows of anywhere I'd be grateful of a heads up. Cheers, Dan (07970188050).
  20. I've bought gear off them in the past and they are a very helpful and efficient company - I'll certainly use them again in the future!
  21. Looks a good machine - what size is the feed hole (being a Bandit I'd imagine quite a lot bigger than 7'')?
  22. I guess we're never going to agree on this one!!!
  23. Greenmech 1928
  24. That's ace - thanks for posting!
  25. Haix Protector Pros - I've had 7 or 8 pairs, get a year's continuous wear out of them (5 or 6 days a week with no maintenance/cleaning/proofing ever) and they stay waterproof all the way up to the top of the tongue. They are f****d after a year, as the soles are normally smooth by then, and the leather can start splitting behind the toe cap and behind the heal, but I feel that's acceptable. Hats off to George Carrs and/or Workwear (the importers) - I bought some off them at the APF (ie more than 12 months ago) and it turned out there was a manufacturing defect - they've just sent me new boots with no quibble at all. I can't recommend either company highly enough!
