  1. I had a Google Earth look earlier funnily enough - on the junction with Chapel Street and Albert Place. Interesting looking building, the bit at the back which is a different age is also quite unusual. No idea what it’s for though!
  2. Be aware that if you leave magnetic signs on for a long time they can trap water and subsequently damage the paint. Also make sure they and the surface you attach them to is perfectly clean!
  3. I was temporarily banned many years ago for testing what I thought (in my drunken state at that immediate time) was a swear-filter… I posted (with mild profanity) and what immediately appeared censored my rudeness. Trying to see how it worked with a follow-up post brought down the hammer! Turns out the modern day arbtalk allows every farking cant (of which there are plenty…) to post what they like!
  4. What does that cost you as a business, or is it all passed on to the buyer out of interest?
  5. I took a punt and opened it up to the crackheads on Facebook Arbtalk - have ended up with a few new promising contacts (which surprised me!). Ashley from GA Groundcare has put me directly in touch with a really good lad so am sorted for this job now, thanks all!
  6. Ffs - I’ve been on site in Redditch today! Wouldn’t have been much of a detour via yours to home. Let me know what you want for it (here or pm).
  7. If any of you guys are available or know others who might not be on here please give me a shout. Cheers, Dan
  8. I’d be interested in it - best saw ever made imo, and my last one has grown legs and walked off somewhere! Where are you based?
  9. Hello - is anyone based in the Camberley area by any chance? I’ve got a couple of days deveg work on a construction site in Frimley and am looking for a team with NPTC and CSCS cards and a chipper for a couple of days asap. Anyone interested please give me a call on 07970188050. Many thanks, Dan.
  10. I think it’s being used as a deterrent as much as anything else - I don’t see how that can be a bad thing personally.
  11. I like leylandii on the log burner (which is lucky as it is one timber that we end up with plenty of!).
  12. This just popped up on FB coincidentally - my mate’s dad is on the left.
  13. If it is a Milemarker they have 2 speeds - rather slow and really weak (only really used for spooling cable onto the drum) and really really slow but really powerful. Make sure it is in low range for pulling, as high range won’t pull you out of bed.
  14. Is that a Milemarker winch do you know? They used an adapted Mercedes power steering pump under the bonnet ISTR.
  15. A couple of mates’ dads were sat divers in the 70s and they made proper money at the job. One subsequently set up (and later sold) a national restaurant chain and the other sadly passed away in a rebreather incident in a quarry a few years ago. Neither you would **************** with!
  16. Either tbh. I couldn’t imagine sat divers taking home anything less than £1k a day (and I’d like to think double that really). They are the ones actually undertaking the high value work, their individual wages must pale into insignificance when taken as a percentage of the cost of whatever job they are part of, because of these reasons unproductive ones surely wouldn’t get much/any work so those doing the job must be at the top of their game, and that is before we consider the relative risks and discomfort of the work. The figures in your table don’t reflect what I would have expected (but it’s obviously not an industry I know anything about).
  17. I thought the divers would be on more than that tbh.
  18. The lack of vision for anything in the UK is hampered by our shitty parliamentary system and the subsequent short-term ‘try to hold onto power through whatever means at the next election’ mentality.
  19. Your dad needs to claim off his house insurance. Whethervthey then decide to chase the tree’s owner for recompense or not is down to the insurer.
