  1. My Oregon fiordland boots have just been delivered today first impressions are extremely comfy straight away, like walking boots, soft and supple, look real nice in the flesh too. i normally get 10 months out of a pair of haix, so i'll be happy if these last the same-simillar cost. they're supposed to be waterproof too, not water resistant like alot of boots are which swayed my decision
  2. Ad 1 - 3 seasoned trunks, a home owner with a BnQ special saw will save a few bob over buying from garages, and have a good dinner story Ad 2 - Bulk bag of cherry logs for 75quid-pics for illustration only Ad 3 - free stump, even says they're just trying to save a trip to the tip
  3. Whats the problem with the Ad's?
  4. So its a 3D rigging plate?
  5. foolish IMO, could screw yourself up for life, or later in life when i was layed up read tree books back to front, the whole series of shameless, and played cards, so much cards
  6. The stien/kask lid is too small for me, but the petzl is much bigger, with more room for adjustment but i have regular haircuts
  7. The 220 artic steer Avant would just fit on the back of a 130 with the grab still attatched
  8. But its not the point that we feel we can use it on the ground, its about minimising risks-a topper is easy to use one handed- and with kickback or release of a tensioned branch/sappling throwing the saw towards you, no-one is capable of stopping it one handed-tw handed is still hard as the handles are so close and the natural arc your folding arm takes, brings the saw towards your torso-i should know i have a small but leech like scar on my sternum-3 inch higher, or if the chain was spinning could be a much bigger scar at best, could easly be a severed carotid artery limiting the use to within the tree limits the risk-as profesionals we should recognise this atleast on a public forum
  9. Perhaps its the little things, like top handles on the ground, stump grinding without eyeprotection that slowley creeps into day to day work with a bit of lazyness, which others onsite should bring to their attention there and then, to minimise the risk of accident
  10. Treemon, on your website, you have someone stumpgrinding with just ear defenders . . . should he not be wearing eye protection too?
  11. Really did laugh out loud at that!!!
  12. yes lets advise jose a tracked chipper, its not small like he wants, it needs an aditional trailer, will definatly be over 750kg so that means trailer licence, he works in london so of course bigger, heaver tracked kit will be far more suitable than a TW125 or GM130 Jose, why not ask GM for a demo day?
  13. I guess the original poster wants a smaller chipper for a reason . . . can only comment on GM's round blades and echo ICTrees comments, very good
  14. Modified LP player turns tree rings into piano music, quite cool! Modified Turntable Reads Tree-Rings as Music (Video) : TreeHugger
  15. Great to use your own wood Simon! Chainsaw milled? At a guess does the gate swing out towards the church perhaps . . .
  16. Cant have been plip, You'd have FELT a strange presence and maybe been left with some Ectoplasim scattered around
  17. Shell have their own brand of alkalyte fuel, maybe it would be a better option to petition the fuel companys to supply their own alkalyte fuel in their own filling stations like they do over here, rather than ask one brand to drop their prices
  18. yes, i know its bad, i was just putting myself in their shoes, what they might think, i honestly dont think they see it as criminal damage, a little education at the source might go a long way and far mor practable, cheaper and less intrusive than enforcement officers, cctv ect A simple sign, police force logo'd, big picture of a dog hanging off a branch with ILLEGAL stamped across it at the enterances to parks could go a long way, how else are you going to get the point across?
  19. Plus it doesnt 'go off' or perish rubber, so if you use a machine only a few times a year, the machine wont suffer through lack of use
  20. Do people actually realise that this is wrong though? afterall its just a branch from a tree, plenty more, trees still there. . . i think its only because of us being Arbs we realise this is bad, but joe public will not understand the damage, cost, and unsightlyness of ripped branches, and i doubt people realise its vandalism, criminal damage-its a just a tree, not a window, car ect We are educated in trees, most are not Perhaps Police endorsed signage that damage to trees is unlawfull, and carrys a fine upto 20K per offence-i guess they're tpo'd afterall? might be a good start
