  1. If its standing on it own then it can be climbed. As for rigging, well if your careful and can pretension ropes then a lot can be done. Guy lines to other trees would be handy though. If you are unsure if its possible then just go and watch Graham McMahon's video again.
  2. Waht sort of chain have you got on it. I always found the 36inch was a bit too big for the 066 especially cutting Beech with a chisel chain. I run mine with a 24inch bar and only occasionally put anything bigger on.
  3. I think I'm trying to drift it across to the other stem, the piece is at the same height as the lowering pulley so would have slammed across quite hard. And then that rope would be dropped so that the ground crew can use it to pull the piece away into the landing zone. Not sure that it was particularly successful! Heres the rest of the pics. 4. Is that the Drift HD camera you have now?
  5. Instant derail!! Justin, if you are on AT at the moment does that mean you are at home or at work? Just filling in an order on line and wondering if it will go out today or monday?
  6. Oh does it? Thats good. Also if I had two drift cameras, I guess I can control both at the same time with one remote, that would be handy. They now do the drift in all black too...........mmmmmmmm!!
  7. Hmmm! I'm still undecided! If I get the new drift HD then all my old mounts are compatable, and I can use both cameras and edit them together easily. Plus I like the shape of the drift more. Also I found this time lapse camera that might be good as a seperate thing? Time Lapse cameras and time lapse digital video recording
  8. Cool. Is the time lapse funtion standard on the HD hero or have you used additional software? i.e. have you left it runnign all day and then turned it into time lapse or does it do it itself?
  9. Another, the ground work is just as important!.
  10. Location not important. Heres the thread http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/rigging-roping/15219-wobbly-sycamore-take-down-pics.html
  11. Whats a lorry then? Is it a big van? What about a luton is that a van or a lorry? And if you dont like the word lorry then it must be a truck. But you can get walk through lutons, so they must be vans?
  12. Seeing as I live in cheltenham we dont get to use it very often, unless we go to the other end of town!!! Swindon tomorrow though!! bobfocs and kronenbourgs all round!!!
  13. "Give me some smack and some dope" = give me some slack in the rope!!
  14. Ah, ok, I'm with you now. Sorry Craig! Doubling th eload at the pulley is not really a problem when you tie it off round a stem but havign a line over a branch stem means twice the load at that point PLUS the same load holding the pulley in place so thats 4 times the actual bit being lowered. Got it!
  15. Yes thats to do with reducing the strenght of the rope you are using. craig is on about the forces on the anchor point, before you even worry about rope strength. I thought it was doubled if you tie one rope off at the base of the tree with the riggign line through a puley on the other en dof the rope in the manner you describe, craig says 4x.
  16. Older still 066 technique! Guilty as charged, I just put the photo that was one frame earlier on the "one handed rear handle saw using like you shouldn't" thread so no getting out of it now!! It was a good take down. 1600 photos of it somewhere! Shots were taken on a Canon Eos 50D (whetever that is) and the quality os good. Not suggesting Yve would want one handed saw use photos, but that one was nearly allowable, except for the lack of lanyard! OOps!
  17. I've got a few in very high res but not very arty! What are you after?

    Ipads

Does the ipad need wireless internet? Its not got a phone signal has it so how do you use it when "out in the sticks?" Is there a monthly fee with them? Thats what puts me off an iphone, I'm too tight! My mobile only costs me £12 month includign enough calls and texts so I never need to pay for any.

    VAT Limit

Don't invoice anything until april! Be careful though, its not counted on the financial year, its on the last 12 months (any 12 month rolling period) so if you dont go over it by 31 march, you might by 30th april, or may/june/july etc etc. It does not reset to zero in April.
