  1. I could have walked out of Inception within ten minutes if I had had the car key! Not my cup of tea. I dont think it was anyones cup ot tea, it was a new film, and a new way of making films, very bold and unique, possibly changing cinema forever in the same was as T2, Jurasik park, The Matrix, and avatatar all did. Story wise it was odd, but as film making goes its a work of art and that is what cinema is all about.
  2. Nice, whats the Amp on the left?
  3. Yes, too much saluting america, not my thing!!! ALso the end air fight was a total star wars rip off, (the bombing of the death star in episode 4) and the film was not cool enough to try that one on!
  4. Good point, some films I see at the cinema but not often, I buy them years later when the hype has died down. Also its a good way to catch up on films that were in the cinema when I was too young to see them. (Yes Black and white ones!!)
  5. Is it on now? Shame I missed it!
  6. Worst film,,,,,, Independance day! I dont mind crap films, but crap films that take themselves seriously are no good!
  7. Strange how tastes differ, I like everything on your list AND Inception and definatly Kick Ass, its awsome!! Take it in the genre its intended and its great, comparing it to anything high brow and it will come last but its a good piece of fun!
  8. Its not a competition, its just a hobby. I like films and they should be seen as intendended, large and loud, IMO.
  9. As an addition to the films thread, lets see some good cinema set ups. I'll start with my modest set up! Its all in the HD projector of course, best thing I ever bought (outside of work stuff, I still love my 066 more than this bit of jap tech!!). I have a tv, but its out of the way to the side and the main screen sits between the speakers.

The stress must have been awful!!! I have tea bags hidden all over the truck just in case the giant box of them in the tea locker runs out suddenly!!
  11. No worries, was good fun. Beech tree next please, bloody mossy frithy oaks blah!!
  12. Is the Happening any good? Read lots of bad reveiws?
  13. I've got "Old Boy" arrivng soon, bought it last week off amazon for 84p (plus £1.24 postage!!) should be here monday or tuesday, been wanting to see it for ages, I think I'm in for a treat/surprise!!
  14. I have the original one (not HD) and I think its great. Will get the HD one aswell soon.
  15. The begining confused me too much so I had to start again another day when I wasn't so tired. Second time round I got it and loved it.
  16. Wow, thats a great first film to get on Blu ray. Hope your TV is upto it! And you need a good sound system for that film, plenty of bass. Blu ray is good, but generally I'm not planning on getting older films on blu ray just for the sake of it, but I will get point break. When I last looked on amazon and found it was not availble I ended up buying Top Gun. Looks great in HD but still its just too gay!! My Blu ray player and amp both up scale DVD to half way between DVD and full HD quality so DVD is still a perfectly good medium for film I think.
  17. Have you got Point Break on DVD?? Its quite a rare one, available on amazon but not for 2-3£ like most films of that age. Anyway, you made me look for it on amazon again, and guess what folks? Its being released on Blu ray at last!!!!! June 2011 yee haa! Have been wanting it on Blu ray for ages. Favourite more moderner films then........ Gladiator, the Bourne Films, Blood Diamond? I really liked Death Proof but not to everybodies taste I'm sure. If you are ok with subtitles then Black Book is harrowing but very well made, and then there is a great french thriller called "Tell no one" which is brilliant but possibly the best foreign film of recent times have to be the Girl with the dragon tattoo trilogy, which are being remade in english but I somehow doubt they will be as good. Best recent film: Inception?

    Ropeguide 2010

I did that years ago and its still up a tree in Stroud! Not sure what went wrong but it was cold and dark so it staayed there! I will get it back one day! I think it was early 2008 so I might have to chuck the rope sections but could keep the pulley!
  22. What system do you climb on normaly?
  23. I have a feeling that YP have some stock photos that they use for tree work ads, I think I have seen thew photo you describe! The company should have said no to the advert but I still guess that YP made it on their own. They made me a demo one once, like a "this is what you could have for £££" The ad they showed me had guys wearing wife beaters, I just laughed at the rep! But when the YP came out there were three other companies that all had the same stock (wifebeater) photo on them. YP didn't even have the courtesy to use different pictures for different companies, its a joke.

    Ropeguide 2010

I might be able to, butonly for saturday morning I think, so not decided for sure yet. Thats all I need is the rope splicing bit, I have the trapeze from my old RG and a cocoon and even a pinto in the post as we speak so might use that. Would you be able to do me one? How much would it be to make one and post it if I dont go to capel? If I do go to capel then the cider will have to wait for another time, unless you plan on getting on it lunchtime!?
  25. The handsaw.sawpod thing is definatly a problem, unless you can put your saw on the oposite side from your lanyard, but I know thats not easy. I daisy chain most of the spare lanyard and only keep enough hanging for normal use, so it rarley gets under my feet but would catch on a legmounted handsaw
