  1. That is just one way of doing it. B) The sytem you describe will only work with two fixed ropes, not one rope over a branch. The latter system would work but the rope would be pulled back and forth over the branch and damage the rope/branch, and be hard work. Two fixed lines can be done but is more complicated.
  2. A) the helical is just one of many "advanced" friction hitches. Advanced really just means that they self tend with use of a small pulley. They are undoubtably different than blakes/prussik and some would say better. The helical (I used it for 2-3 years) is one of the riskiest! It doesn't always grab the rope unless you tie it tight, but then it wont self tend, so you need to tie it loose and hope for the best!
  3. Yeah, I'm sure they used weak rope especially for it! Its the same rope that you climb on all day, and all components are rated. It will only work properly with a good vt hitch or similar, no point if you use blakes or prussiks.
  4. Our french friends climb like that all the time! It looks good, but a bit odd.
  5. Yep, and I shower once a month whether I need it or not!!
  6. Sorry I'm washing my hair that night.
  7. Yes it was a marketing excercise but that is not the same thing as a loss.
  8. loss making and marketing? Do you know what happened to VW share prices recently?
  9. I'm no petrol head but the other day I saw a repeat top gear, the on where JC drive the veyron back from italy and the others go in a plane. Not once did he complain about discomfort. I bet the same journey in that Ultima would be hell. Surely thats the difference between the two?
  10. What?? Didn't get a word of that, speak slower please!
  11. Just sack the fricken lot of them and then see how you get on with no employees! Nurture the not so clever ones and keep yourself in employees for ever! Its your business, make it work for you and stop getting caught up in whos cleverer than who!
  12. Thats what I found, so I thought the 36" ould be better. Do you think the extra weight is what helps the 48" to work so well?
  13. Ed, is the wall painted with proper projector style paint or just emulsion? If you paint it with the right stuff then no need for a screen. I use a screen cos there is a window where I want to project to. Check AV forums for advice. Indiana jones was not even enjoyable! MAybe the blu ray made it look even more cartoon like, I'm still unconvinced about HD for films, a bit of grain is no bad thing. For sport or natural history stuff HD is great.

    Pts

Its mind numbingly simple! I did it 12 years ago so it may have changed. I think you need to get 95-100% to pass but its designed so that you pass. We had a guy in our group who took it four times and never got more than 50% but he was special.
  15. 9.1 surround set up with all nine speakers nicely set up, no wires etc. Screen drop down from behind a pelmet on the wall, again no visible wires. The lights are just b&q dimmable remote sockets, cheap but effective. MAke sure they are the only ones before sitting down and you just press a switch on the remote and they dim and go off! Watched the new Indiana Jones film last night in Blu ray. Worst film I've ever seen, most dissapointed!!
  16. 42 inch? Is that a standard Stihl bar?
  17. Yes but that might cut into your soft hands!
  18. I hardly talk to my groundie now, its signals all the way. Tea, yes, now, no 5 minutes, ok, w*n*er, its all easy really!!
  19. So attach another rope to the short end. Once one is through the crotch then no worries, drop both on yer head!
  20. No shame, you can't have too many tools and ones got to be favorite..
  21. Thats not a gadget, its a legitimate tool! You can have as many tools as you like, gadgets are things you don't "need"
  22. 660 with a 25inch is my favourite! I have a 30 for it but in the tree 25 is usually enough.

    Man down

TRAMADOL will help but I advise against it! Osteopath will sort that cricked neck out in no time, a seized back is just like a panic mode cos your neck is cricked.
